It is not always about the wins but how you win. In several of the loses Holly was out coached. We still having issues and part of that is depending upon the inside offensive game. Watch the top ten teams and we have more shooting ills than anyone else. To stop us all you need to do is play a zone.

Look at Russell she is playing the same way she played in high school, she needs a coach that can take her to the next level. I am not a big Genno fan but under him Russell would be a different person. She has potential and skills that Dolson would have killed for. That for the most parts was Genno's coaching. This team has offensive talent but it is not being in the right way.

DeSheilds and Cooper more than make up for Burdick and Massengale. It is three years into Holly. That is the problem.

My biggest problem with Pat Summit. Of course she was in a weakened mental state toward the end but her loyalty to Holly over the best interest of the program was disappointing.

This was disappointing I honestly think the coaches all need a wakeup call. They should be ashamed of themselves this team at present is sweet 16 because of bad coaching. The one bright spot was Diamond I am happy she played well today. Russell needs to be more aggressive. A core of russell, deshields, Cooper, and graves should be enough to make a final 4 run but the coaches need to make better use of these girls' talents

Oh I completely agree with you. She has been outcoached in every game but the first game of the season. There are going to be many more losses to come I'm afraid. Of course, if that's the only way to get rid of her, maybe the good would outweigh the bad

I don't think its a chemistry problem its a coaching problem. We wont get any recruits getting embarrassed on national tv

Guess what we didn't get any for 2016. Haven't recruited a post since Russell. Would not be surprised if we go nil again. I hope we recruit better but be honest, are you blown away(in a positive way) when you hear Holly being interviewed.

Hart is very happy if we win 25 games a year and make the sweet sixteen. He can keep the pay to women's basketball coaches low and spend more money on football.

The ironic part is that Butch isn't much better than Holly in terms of coaching ability, if he's better at all. He's stubborn as a mule, can't make adjustments and he coaches better when he's behind than he does when he's ahead. It's almost verbatim what Holly does. But people fawn over him because of his recruiting ability and his cute little sayings like "brick by brick". This football team should have one loss at this point and that's Butch's fault. So I find it ironic that Hart is spending all this money on a football coach that is about equal of Holly's caliber.

Butch, Holly, Derek Dooley and Cuonzo Martin are all cut from the same cloth in terms of coaching ability. They all suck. But Butch can recruit and so can his staff. Martin and Dooley couldn't recruit worth a damn and Holly's staff is somewhere between those two and Butch -- which honestly isn't going to get it done at UT.

Just about every coach at UT right now except for the Weeklys are underachieving right now. Everyone single one. Warlick, Serrano, Rob Patrick, Pensky. Butch is, too, but not to the extent of the others. Still, it's incredibly sad at the amount of underachieving coaches that are leeching off UT's payroll right now.

That we played another crap game? That we couldn't shoot the ball again--30 percent (to 40 percent for texas); that we played stupid defense--leaving 3-point shooters unguarded again, who burned us; that we had a high number of turnovers AGAIN. We consistently underachieve, and you pretend that we don't. Consistent underachievement merits complaint. Someone who tells us that Warlick is a "top 10" coach telling us not to whine--that's rich.

Holly reward players who have been bad. Also let`s take a step back and look at her pattern. She keeps using Carter and Reynolds as a decoy. And what i hate about Holly which make no sense having Carter play the point but pass up shots that`s just crazy. When Cooper is at the point she let`s her jack up all kinds of crazy shots. As for Graves i have now been saying it for 4 years she don`t have the lift for a true post player. Note now Holly now must throw N. Moore into the fire Jones is out Nared.

I agree with you and Sandvol on this. Holly isn't going anywhere if she wins 25 games and makes it to the sweet 16.
My biggest concern, short term, is that Diamond will feel compelled to score a huge amount of points every game.
That will result in her playing way too many minutes.
If she re-injures herself and can't play, we are a .500 team in the SEC.
Long term, if the team continues to play at this level, why would a top high school player want to be involved in this mess ?

You aren't discussing the game. You are whining.

No matter if you support Holly or not, this was a bad game offensively. We can curse and call every poster an idiot, but that does not change the fact that we need to change our offense if we want to be in the final four.

I think the next few games will show what Holly learned from this game.

They are bad coaches because none of them insist on excellence. They are willing to accept average from their Assistants and from their players. The Weekly's demand excellence or you usually end up packing and heading for another school.

We got some work to do. That is obvious. I am thankful for Diamond Deshields. If she had not decided to transfer here then the team definitely would be a notch below talent-wise of the other top 5 programs.

The big question is where do we get offense? Diamond can put up 24 on 9 of 22. It took five other players to get 9 field goals and it took them 41 shots.
Holly says we have good shooters who are they?
This isn't something that happened this year we did this very same thing last season. Ending by scoring 48 against Maryland not exactly known as a defensive team.

In fairness to Butch he inherited a dumpster fire where the previous coach hadn't even bothered recruiting any offensive linemen for a few years. Kind of like how the next women's basketball coach will have to recruit some post players.

But he was on the hot seat a LOT more than Holly has been. She took over a top ranked team with lots of talent. And in basketball fast turnarounds are a helluva lot easier since you don't have to recruit 20-30 players every year for 22-24 positions. But even so Butch would be on his way out without the GA win and winning out. He would have likely gotten another year but the writing would be on the wall and he would just be playing out the string.

With the money UT spends on women's basketball we SHOULD be in the top 4 every year. There just aren't that many other schools who take it as seriously or who have those sorts of resources. So that puts a floor under how poorly Holly can do. But it also means she needs to be held to a higher standard.

Does the women's basketball team NOT make some money? I thought I heard the TV announcer say we averaged 9,000 fans at home games last year. Not enough to cover our travel and other expenses?

So there has to be a plan going forward. Holly says all these players are good shooters but they don't ever prove it in games. This has been the case since they have been at Tennessee. Look at their lifetime numbers.
I think the best option with this team is no more free lance shooting. You have to designate and design plays for two or three best offensive players to take most of the shots. The last championships we won Parker, Bobbitt, and to a lesser extent Hornbuckle were the options. Everyone else just tried to get them a shot with screens etc. Out of sixty five shots these three took about 45 of them and I think we need to head that way again with Diamond, Graves, and find another player that can shoot forty percent.
