Game Thread: Tennessee (15-8, 8-3 SEC) versus No. 1 South Carolina (23-0, 10-0) @ Food City Center, 2/15, 7:00 PM (EST), ESPN

Dawn was ask about how she ripped her the starters in that time with some colorful language. She was pretty much unapologetic and said she loves all her players and they are family for life. In her defense they did come out looking like a hot mess.

Evidently, some people respond better when their bosses swear at them.

And let me say this, I don’t think or see any reason why Jillian Hollingshead would enter the portal. She had a good season as a sophomore. Started off having a great off-season and then got injured. I would believe her main priority this off-season is to get healthy.

Tennessee likely focuses on the wing and true center positions in the portal. Talaysia and Kaniya will get a look at the guard positions and the decision of Jewel Spear will factor in the core of the team.

I'm really worried about Sunday's game, Vandy will be determined to beat us and I'm afraid we might still be emotionally drained from last night's loss.

I was concerned about that very thing when I saw the schedule...that a close loss in which victory was in sight might physically and emotionally drain the players and set Vanderbilt up. Now Vandy's coming off a comeback victory at A&M (where we lost). Our girls just need to dig deep. Nashville court is a challenge.

How pissed does Harper ever actually get? I think that's her problem--and it certainly was one of Warlick's problems. Good, demanding coaches will seriously get into the grill of under-performing players and demand better. There are times when a genuine brass tacks reaction is needed--not a pretend you're tough approach. Hollingshead has been a massive disappointment this year. Where's the intensity?
on this we absolutely agree
unless the coach is a cheerleader-coach
then they are incapableof backing down an Alpha player

Tennessee shouldn’t lose again this year. And yes, I’m including the game at South Carolina.

You don’t wake a sleeping giant!

Lets GBO🍊

Oh, clutch the pearls that language wouldn’t be tolerated here. You didn’t need to hear to lip read, she didn’t need to be unapologetic.

So you really think that is necessary to get the best out of athletes?

Better to clutch pearls than to snorkel in sewers.

I think it's hard for rising seniors to go to the portal because they only have 1 year of eligibility and need to play 2 years at their new school to get a degree. So unless she's graduating this spring, she'd either have to sit a year or pay for a year.
or a school could take her, red shirt her and keep her for two years and have a 6'4" post

I still remember being stunned when Bree Hall went elsewhere despite multiple assurances from resident Volnation experts that she'd commit to Tennessee.

All I can say about that is they better be ready to give it all they got or the chances of them sitting home for the NCAA Tourney are substantially increased.

I don’t think you being stunned or not is that important. She had the starting position and struggled. I believe due to injury.

Has played all season. Never been benched during her time at Tennessee.

She did not transfer to Tennessee as a starter. Maybe it’s what you want to see. There’s no good reason for her to transfer. She likely starts next season as a senior.

But maybe you know more than everyone else about why she should. To each its own.

You are correct, sir. Age has taken a toll on the grey matter

At this rate, I will soon be qualified to be the leader of the Free World.
She went to North Carolina didn't do much there think she had some injuries transferred I know not where and haven't heard much about her since. I need to look her up and see how she is doing.

You know the answer👆. Seems like they seek out players or people around them to try to influence them to transfer. And it hasn’t exactly helped any player.

Tennessee has done great adding transfers and once Rickea Jackson is drafted in the lottery that will be a major success for the program.

If Jewel Spear returns for another year then it’ll be huge as well.

Big-time transfers have Tennessee as a top option.

Just did. ASU. Hasn't played much this year...probably injured.

We are not short on talent, we are short on developing talent. Big difference when trying to lay blame on the players vs the ones who get paid to develop and recruit players.
Yeah short on talent means we wouldn’t have held a candle.. the fact we CAN play like that but aren’t held to that standard is the problem

Speaking of benchplay. Where has Striplin gone after having a massive game she has gone MIA.

Darby looked to be more worried about the officiating than playing basketball ball.

Thought Karo did a good job setting screens and then rolling to open area. Unfortunately, missed the shot that her move created.

Another time, she was wide open at the top of the key just beyond the three-point line, where she has been very effective her whole career, and the ballhandler just forced up a shot. Similar to Puckett being ignored several times despite having a hot hand.

Imo, that situation needs to be addressed immediately.

Outside of JP… All three of our “guard” rotations had ZERO points. Personally I would’ve like to see if Ace could’ve provided anything esp in that lull in the 4th.
