It looks like we are getting the supporting cast after Rickea is gone, we will need at least 2 elite players and that should solve it.Well I like Brooks, Boyd, and Cooper just need to add some bigs and a couple more elite wings we'll be there. Mindset was right today they are far more talented than we are.
We have tall players but none that are threats to score much. Agree that would help a lot to get a post with some moves that can get 20 a game, draw double teams to dish off to cutters. Maybe one day.Need a post player that can score Tamari just 2 and none of the other not much either. Just that one post player to take the pressure off Rickea would solve a lot of this teams problems.
Get a big like Cardoso, Brink, etc. don't even have to be as good just someone that can rebound and score ten a game. Then find a top point guard and the best you can do to replace Rickea and we'll have a good team. Every game it is Rickea then a bunce of people not shooting well. We win when Jewell shoots well with Rickea. That didn't happen today cause 20 from her and this is a nail biter. It looks like we are getting the supporting cast after Rickea is gone, we will need at least 2 elite players and that should solve it.
Guts or stupidity? If you keep doing the same thing and keep getting the same result that is not a sign of intelligence. Something needs to change to turn 12-35 into at least 25-25 at a minimum. We've played almost 50 ranked teams in less than five years?
Not many coaches have that kind of guts in scheduling.
Glad we have you keeping track.
A lot more possessions was the game. We didn't rebound well enough. Possessions were 94 to 77 which is just horrible. We out shot them not enough possessions because of rebounding and turnovers.Shoutout to our defense (SC shot 33%). With LSU and SC twice all having rough offensive games against the LVs, I think we have to start giving some credit where it is due. Yes, those teams as well as the LVs missed some shots that they usually make. That happens with good defense so when you are finally open you rush a shot.
Something that meets the eyeball test but not the official stats: We are so much better with Tamari in despite her current limitations. The moment she was out of the game SC went to the hoop easily for layups every time. That is likely why Tamari was the only player for the LV to have a positive +/- with +5. Our starts in general did well, with the worst being at -3. It was our bench that let us down.
Another big positive was Jasmine Powell. She redeemed herself after her rough 3 game stretch. She had 12 points, 2 three pointers, 3 assists, 1 turnover and an eyepopping 6 rebounds against the rebounding giants of SC.
I think we are learning so that we could provide a major upset in the early rounds of the NCAAs. One can hope!
