*Game Thread* Week 1: Titans at Steelers

How can you have Michael Griffin, Chris Hope, Nick Harper, and Cortland Finnegan in the secondary.....be so damn good against the run, and just suck so bad against the pass? Those guys were tired and had no pass rush, but come on, they knew Ben was going to throw it on both of those last drives.

Also have a bone to pick with the run game, the Titans have looked VERY sluggish running the ball in preseason and it continued here.

Agreed, the secondary can literally take over games for us, and they did pull off one of the biggest plays of the game with the Ward forced fumble, but it seemed like Big Ben was finding holes all over our zone D.

And yeah, run game looked pretty shotty, beyond one or two big runs from CJ he was unimpressive.

And people wonder why I hate Steeler fans so much. I think their mouths speak for itself.

...and I'm not sure how much of that can be credited to the Titans rather than the Steelers just being awful at running the ball. Didn't they struggle running the ball all of last year as well?

Yes, they were bad last year.

You're probably mostly right, with a bit of the blame going to Parker's injury.

Media's going to keep running with the "Titans D sucks without Albert" angle now. Can't wait.

I think it will be more fans than the media. I wouldn't think a lot of people would feel that way. If they say that about the Titans than they have to say it about the Steelers. Titans lost by 3 in over time and had more yards against their defense. Collins, Gage, Britt, Scaife and White just beat up on that defense. Not exactly an explosive offense. Two of the best teams in the NFL in week 1. I still have faith in the Titans. They made mistakes but they also forced mistakes and I thought both teams looked good despite those mistakes.

media's going to be running with the "titans can't play with the big boys angle"

and that game against the colts just got worse, because well...they do this kinda thing all game too

Well, Titans fans could look at it this way...We won the regular season match-up against Pitt last year and didn't do much in the playoffs. Maybe this year we can let them have the reg. season win and we can have a run when it counts.

Yes. Even then, I am just relaxed because it's a 16 game season. It's not like college where every loss f's up your season more and more. You can take a few hits and you still get a shot to win it all. Titans lost to the Super Bowl champions in the first week. They will make it to the playoffs. I would be shocked if they didn't.

Nobody's smug just prodding you a little. Lighten up. I just really wanted this game after the one in Nashville last year.

sorry. just saw the first two posts and figured you were one of "those" fans

i still heavily favor the pats though this year regardless of feelings or affiliations with other teams.....

It's no fun winning if one can't rub it in a little. It was a good game. Titan fans should go away feeling good about their team.

I do feel good about the team. Normally I wouldn't mind people rubbing it in because I talk crap sometimes. I was just on good behavior once and didn't want to take sh*t when I was respectful for one. :p

If this was toward the end of the season. I'd pry be more upset. I just know it's one loss and the Titans barely lost to one of the best teams in the NFL. THey should take care of the crappier teams no prob.

meh. that's like florida fans saying UT sweeping them in basketball means they're going to win a national championship (...which actually they did that year)

i just dont believe that any team i cheer for will get any of those magical trends.

honestly, my feelings are and have been they missed their best chance last year, and now not only do they need to reload/fix some things but they need to wait for a more highly talented team like the pats to get worse or injured again....

Not at all. Like i said, it's all in good fun. I always cheer for the Titans unless they're playing Pittsburgh. I've always been a Steeler fan. There was no NFL team in TN when i was growing up. Should be a good season. I see three or four teams in the mix for the AFC this season.

I agree.

My basketball team, baseball team and football team(titans) have never won a championship since they've been in existence. Neither have has my college basketball team... the Vols obviously. My team in the NBA might have won a championship but I think it was in ABA.

Need to have some faith in the Titans. Still an awesome team.

honestly i'm the kind of guy who calculated odds a long time ago for seeing a team cheered for get to and win their championship. and upon realizing that, am actually happy/content with other results since I got to see one team i cheer for -UT - win a national championship in 1998
