This was an interesting, fact filled read. It basically says the Chimney Tops 2 fire started on November 23 and hints that the initial response could have been more aggressive than it originally was.

"Aircraft dropping water or fire retardant on a fire cannot put it out. Under ideal conditions they can temporarily slow the spread, which may be effective if firefighters on the ground can move in quickly to take advantage of the short term change in fire behavior by constructing firelines, stopping the spread at that location. In this case, there were no firefighters in a position to take direct action."

If anyone wants to donate then please, reconsider Red Cross. Donate local through Dolly Foundation, banks or schools. Red Cross has already boxed up donated items into trucks and shipped them off site. The Red Cross says that these items were donated to them and they will see it distributed as they see fit. They see the outpouring of support for my home town as a chance to fill their coffers. Gatlinburg is a strong and tight community but, none of us are to proud to say that we won't continue to accept support from our friends and neighbors for the foreseeable future. There have been people post videos where they have either messaged it to somebody or still had it up on their laptop. It got taken down when people started questioning it and stuff. That was one of the eeriest things I've ever seen.
