How about you go chase a ball in traffic kid. I, in no way, am trying to compare what many of my neighbors and friends lost in this fire. I know it's just a door and it's easily replaceable. My point is, why the **** are you kicking in doors to homes with absolutely no damage. Use some common sense in this situation. TEMA and the leaders who have been running the show have been showing exactly how unprepared they were to handle a situation like this. Not only should they have given people better warning, but they should also be better managed with the search and rescue. Are you serious?? You lost a front door because rescue was checking to see if you were OK while others lost everything including lives. Put your name on the "Do not check on me" list next time. You sound incredibly stupid.
It really is just a door. My point is why are they doing this in neighborhoods with no fire damaged houses.Sorry about your door, that does suck. I've seen EMS almost perfectly break into a house while causing little to no damage. I'll have to ask my uncle if they did the same thing to his. I can tell you that they spray painted a giant red "X" right on the stonework of his cabin.

Thanks. She definitely needs to learn some lessons on how to read a room, phrasing, and timing.
Hopefully one of the more seasoned reporters pulled her aside.
This whole thing is something that just feels worse the more you think about everything. I can't get those families out of my head. The decisions, the fear...it's awful.
There was an episode of COPS back in the 80's where an officer thought some poor lady's house was on fire, so he started breaking out the front windows in her house yelling for her to get out. It turned out that it was the house behind hers that was on fire and his supervisor told him he was going to have to pay for the damage. Funny and sad at the same time, but he meant well.
Do you have any contact information for that family?I think in a different setting and with a different delivery they'd have answered her question. I'm not so sure anybody wanted anything to do with her after that. I missed the afternoon press conference that day so I don't know if she was there. I know her station didn't seem too be bothered by her actions. As I've said it's a solid question, it just was delivered wrong.
I'm like you though, I've thought about folks that have lost everything, something's, and somebody during all this and I'm heartbroken for them and thankful for everything I've got. I knew a family that lost everything they had and they have a toddler that they already bought Christmas for and everything. I'm sure their story is similar to everyone else's it just hits you a little harder when it's on a personal level like that.

They establish standard protocol to eliminate subjectivity in searches and while that in itself eliminates common sense it also eliminates the chance of making a mistake and missing someone that may need life saving help. This goes beyond fire damage. There are also people on home medical devices that with power outaged may be in a pickle as well. Then there is smoke inhalation. Have you thought about that? TEMA has. It's what they do. I know it's frustrating but this protocol will never change. How about you go chase a ball in traffic kid. Agreed. Someone on oxygen would depend on power. They do have bottles to travel with but not enough for days without power so I can see them going in every structure.
Speaking of structures, now over 1600 damaged or gone.
My old place is gone. I'm just sick and sad over the whole thing. One other thing I didn't mention is rescue crews are also equipped with electronic sniffers and are also looking for gas leaks. I think the biggest gaff in the whole disaster was the NPS not having fire towers manned 24/7 knowing Chimney 2 was on fire. We can probably thank that jackass in the White House ultimately since he's the one that slashed NPS funding to the bone.
Was it Congress or was it Obama rolling his climate change hocus pocus into the same funding guised as NPS funding. I'm not politicizing anything buddy. I'm calling a spade a spade. The NPS budget has been gutted. His back handed support of proposed funding of the NPS was just another smoke screen for his personal agenda. Not sure why you need to politicize this, but Obama repeatedly requested budget increases for the NPS and was turned down by Congress.
