This makes me really sick. All of that scenery in the smokies and the beautiful resort town of gatlinburg up in flames. I never thought this would happen.

Sucks bad. Sister lives in behind the Titanic so monitoring it closely.


Didn't a fire burn Gatlinburg completely down late 1800s or early 1900s?

I'm wondering if there's some kind of serial arsonist running around. There are a lot of fires burning

Yes, but my brother was saying their are quite a few new fires started today from the down powerlines... my sister in-law actually had a hard time getting home because trees were blocking quite a few roads.

I believe they have caught quite a few arsonist over the last few weeks as well. I finally was able to get ahold of my dad by text a few minutes ago... they are all packed up but no phone service. They are quite a ways from Gatlinburg but there are other fires, house is covered in ash.

GATLINBURG - 12 AM UPDATE: There are currently 30 structures on fire in Gatlinburg as residents and guests evacuate the city.*
The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency says 30 structures are on fire, including a 16-story hotel on Regan Drive and the Driftwood Apartments in Gatlinburg. The wildfire is also at the edge of the Dollywood*property.*
Mandatory evacuations are in place for Mynatt Park, Park Vista and Ski Mountain in Gatlinburg. Evacuations have also been ordered for the north end of Pigeon Forge.*
There are no reports of fatalities from the fires, according to TEMA. There is one report of an evacuee suffering a burn injury.*
There are reports of downed power lines and trees, TEMA said.*

The wildfire has reached town and buildings are in flames. Lord please be with these folks and keep them safe. A good, heavy rain would be an answered prayer, Lord, one you can deliver. God bless those people.

Amen brother. The Smokies are my sanctuary. I've spent more hours fly fishing its streams and experiencing its beautiful scenery than I could begin to imagine. I'm hurting tonight. I know that God is more than able to protect and sustain His creation. Please protect Your creation and people tonight Lord.

Love that town and the moutains surrounding it. Prayers for the people stuck on the mountain which is apparently the case. Sounds like G'Burg dropped the ball big time warning people to get out.

Wate.com has good live coverage...guy on the phone right now is trapped in a hotel downtown and sounds scared to death.

My front porch we were 2 miles from the evacuation point many of my neighbors left.
