Gatlinburg Being Evacuated

I hope the rain makes it there and is enough to help. A fire like this will destroy hundreds of years of tree growth. It will never be the same in our lifetimes.

I hope everyone makes it out and the firefighters are safe as well.

We are just outside of the glades Rd area off of Pittman center at one point there were 4 separate fires circling our house.

From what im reading its engulfing the town and the firefighters are struggling with what resources they have.

^^is this true sig?

Heard that part of Pigeon Forge has also been evacuated and the fire has spread to the perimeter of Dollywood. Be safe Sevier Countians!

It is extremely true. The first bout of rain helped but we are sure hoping the 2nd round is more.

This was one of the main evacuation routes earlier.

I had my truck and bug out bags loaded an alternate route out planned, and if the fire reached a certain point we were gone.

Guy on the phone was told there are not enough resources to protect all of the properties. They were told to stay in place at their downtown hotel.

Another guy notified about 40 different households up on the mountain, Ski Mountain Road area. No one else was notifying them to get out, no robo-calls, alarms, nothing.

It should be raining there, the radar has looked like they were getting good rain for awhile now. Prayers going up. GBO!

This is completely untrue Gatlinburg was evacuated, but it was for safety and air quality the air here is horrible my house is hazy inside.
Gatlinburg has not been just left to burn. Crews are still fighting there.

The best way I can think of is Dantes Inferno.

Guy on TV is in Gatlinburg along with all other guests in the hotel. Too dangerous to evacuate. Another caller said at least one of the roads (I think Ski Mtn Road, maybe Ski View...) was blocked with people trapped above the blockage.

Horrible situation.

Wife and I were married in that Chapel, will not show this to her.-

Oops...Not the Chapel... we were married in the Little Mountain Chapel, a smaller version, and at a time when it may have been the only one in town at the time. Looking at the map there are numerous wedding chapels in town.

Just hard to read, and see images of that town burning, and knowing the impact this is going to have for so many.
