Gatlinburg Being Evacuated

I'll bet scenarios like that vid are playing out all over the area. No one in the area has ever dealt with this before. Those hillcountry folk don't like leaving their places. I spent 4 summers up there during my high school and college years. Praying for all

Rain is moving into the area right now. It dropped 2 inches where I live in West TN so hopefully it will help a little at least.

It's simply amazing that wildfires and drought this bad has hit this part of the country. The videos look like something out of Southern California.

This was on Twitter but can't confirm. It's a repost from someone elses FB page.

I'm sorry if this has been posted but you guys please pray if you pray or send good vibes for my city and our mountains. These fires have absolutely devastated this place. Please pray or send good vibes out to the fire fighters and emergency personnel out working to keep us safe. I'm not sure how closely some of y'all have followed this but it's worse than the news has reported. They don't have access to a lot of the area. Homes, businesses, you name it, gone.

Thank y'all and god bless

P.S. Mods please merge if necessary and thank you guys all again.

I made a thread not seeing this. My wifi is spotty. Thank you guys all for your thoughts and prayers for our community.

I took this from the balcony of my apartment complex. We are safe now, thank the big man upstairs for the rain

How much do you know about the main strip through Gatlinburg? I've heard mixed things. Some say it's about 90% burned to the ground, others say it's spotty but plenty of businesses will be salvaged.

I haven't heard just a ton but I heard that it's pretty bad. I think the center of town is alright. I'd tend to agree with the group that says most of it is gone. I know for a fact Alamo Steakhouse is gone, the chapel across the road from it is gone, mountain lodge is gone, several other places. If you're familiar with the area that should tell you how far it's spread.

I'm in the cobbly nob area, I don't live in cobbly nob but I'm about 5 miles from it and several rental cabins and permanent residencies are burning right now.

All I know is I'm praising the big man upstairs for the rain. It's not a soaker but it's steady enough to help.

My family has a camper in the Outdoor Resorts Campground.

Thanks for the info.

I don't want to misinform you but I think they should be alright. My folks and my place is within 3-4 miles of Outdoor and we are alright. If I hear anything during the rest of this I will most certainly let you know. Prayers that your folks are alright.
