Gators hot for Franklin

He gets people excited about Vanderbilt football.

The Vandy "fans" disagree with you. No one cares about Vandy football. Their pathetic stadium seats 40,000 and it looks half empty today.

This isn't Franklin's last stop. He has tried and tried for three years, begging for fans to turn out and support the team. Vandy people don't care, even after historic, moderate success on the field.

I think today seals the deal for him.

All bias aside, he deserves a better job than that. Vandy fans owe him a full stadium after what he has done for that program.

If hot coach's wives won't bring them out, nothing will.

I agree. No matter how much you dislike vandy or franklin. You have to see what he has done even with the easier schedules. He has literally begged all over the Internet and advertised for fan support and can't even fill up that small stadium. Their fans are pathetic.

Man that crowd is pathetic. From the wide shot, there are probably at least 3,000 seats I can tell that are open.

Senior Day for the best senior class in 100 years, likely going to finish the regular season 8-4 again, beat UT for the second time in a row (regardless of UT's condition) for the first time in forever, and 3rd straight bowl. And this is how Vandy fans repay them, with under 35K at a 40K seat stadium. Pathetic.

I hope Vandy enjoyed Franklin, he gone.

Nebraska would be wise to hire him, IMO.

Even Vandymania is complaining about it. It's not just that they haven't sold out the game, apparently they did their Senior ceremony at 10:45 CST and there were only about 15K in the stadium at that point.

I get the early kickoff is a big turnoff, but Franklin was literally begging fans to get their early all week.

Vandy in big trouble at home. Down 21-20 with under 2:00 and just gave up a big sack. It's 2nd and long.

Franklin is out the door the second someone good comes calling. He begged the Vandy fans to come out to this game and the place was half empty.
I'd leave too if I were him.

The problem with Vandy alums/students is two fold. 1) most probably aren't sports fans and are at Vandy for one reason only and 2) a majority of Vandy alums are from elsewhere and return to where they're from or simply leave TN. TN is only like the 5th most represented state at Vandy. Duke has a similar problem. My dad lived in the research triangle for a year for work and said most North Carolinans hate Duke. It's comprised of a bunch of carpetbaggers who return to the NE or west coast.

Think about it, how many native Tennesseans who didn't attend Vandy are Vandy fans? Most sidewalk alumni pull for the state schools, not private schools.

Vandy also has the problem of a very disinterested student population.

My gf works at Vandy so I'm around the campus quite a bit, and the kids I see walking around aren't exactly typical college football fans.

and....? Their "fans" don't return for homecoming, senior night, or bowl games yet they bit** about their bowl invitations. Their whole fan base is a joke, but there is enough casual football interest in Nashville that can be captured BUT - newsflash - no one gives a damn about Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tennessee, the Southeast, or the United States.
