Gators lose top defensive player for season

That's terrible logic. Alabama went 11-1 twice and didn't win the West. Osu didn't win their division last year and made the playoffs.

2012 SEC East was much better and harder to win than 2016 or 2015 SEC East.

And therein lies the difference between you, most UF fans, and virtually every Alabama fan.

It is viewed as a disappointment to lose the division and not play for the SEC championship, regardless of how the rest of the season plays out.

When a non-conference champion starts winning the national title every year, I'll agree with you.

It's happened once...

Nope. Just that so far he has failed to improve the offense. Am I wrong? Each of the past 2 years his offense put up less PPG than all of Muschamps offenses(except 2013)

We all agree Muschamp was a terrible offensive coach, yes?

And yet, McElwain couldn't improve on Muschamp's effort.

Work with me here.

I'd rather play for a national title/make the playoffs then go 9-4 but win the divisions😂

Of course. Now you're gonna say how I think Mac is a worse offensive coach than Muschamp. No. Muschamp failed to improve Auburns defense the one year he was there, that doesn't mean he's a bad Defensive coach.

Mac has just failed to improve UF's offense *SO FAR*. Not saying he never will. Maybe he won't, maybe he will. Next 2 years will be very telling

Right, because not winning the division/conference yet winning the national title happens all the time.

Bama did it once, and it will likely happen in the future with the playoff, but it's still rare.

Besides, if your coach is notorious for losing games against lesser teams, winning the division might be as good as it gets for the time being. :)

Nebraska, Bama played for a national title without winning their division. Ou played for a nation title without winning their conference. Osu made the playoffs without winning their division. Winning the division isn't close to the most important thing, especially in the playoff era now. Or when the division is trash

In my eyes, a team that goes 11-1 but loses a division that has 3 top 10 teams, that's much more impressive than going 8-3 with no top 10 teams and 2 top 25 teams.

Nebraska got crushed by Miami, who won their conference.

UF beat Oklahoma by double digits. We won the SEC that season.

Clemson destroyed Ohio State in the playoff last season. Clemson won the ACC.

When a non-conference champ starts running off multiple national titles...and it's possible...I'll agree with you.

Until then your examples prove my point.

Because expectations were always to win the East from the beginning of the year. Injuries derailed the season. Can you show me one team who had the same amount of injuries and lives up to expectations? Just one, I can show a bunch that didn't.

Did you expect to beat SC or Vandy going into either of those games?

I'm still trying to understand why you were outraged over the results after you built the wall.

Talking about Ou in 2003, Lost their conference by almost 30 points. Lost to Lsu in the title.

So you would rather win ur division and not play for the national title than lose ur division and make the playoffs/title game?

Nice attempt at mocking me😂 I've said each of the past 2 years UF is better than VN thinks they are. Sorry you can't handle the fact that Mac isn't as good as you wish he was

UF is a shell of what they were.

Their fans are not confusing the last 2 division wins with anything Spurrier or Meyer fielded.

The division sucks, they know it.

No, who did. I've already stated multiple times in this exact thread that we should have beat them. I just realize injuries played a major role. Can you find one team that faces similar injuries and lives up to expectations? I can name multiple that didnt...

Thanks for clarifying OU in 2003...they lost the national title to a team who won their conference. That also helps my argument.

Given the sorry state of the SEC East, I'd rather win the division and hope the planets align for a national title shot after shocking Alabama in the SEC title game.

This x 1000

Winning the East has been akin to winning a participation ribbon the last two years. But I'll take winning it over not winning it.

The non-division/conference champ, playoff participant scenario likely won't apply to the SEC East anytime soon.

How could you possibly expect that given the injuries?

Confusing

Nobody expects their team to fall apart lol.

Anyways, I'll ask again for like the 3rd or 4th time. Can you find me a team who faced those injuries and didn't drop a game they shouldn't?

I'd rather go 11-1 and top 5/10 and not win the division than go 8-3 and not be top 15 but win the division. I guess that's just me

But, you dropped two games...one to Vanderbilt.

The other game was lost coming off a bye week.

Why should anyone look for another team in that situation? You conceded UT should have won both games regardless.

Yes should have, injuries still played a major role and without them we go 10-2. Not hard to understand

Lol.

Don't care to look up injury reports.

My point had nothing to do with that anyway. Just curious why you would be outraged over Ls after you built the injury wall to begin with.

Seems silly.
