nice. now the left are saying he could be court martialed. i thought that speaking out against the administratoin was patriotic and it was facism to argue speaking out againt the president was anti american?

Biden Probably Wants to Renew His Rolling Stone Subscription The Washington Independent

Regardless of whether McChrystal should be fired — there’s, frankly, a compelling case to be made when considering the Uniform Code of Military Justice’s penalty of court martial for “any commissioned officer [using] contemptuous words” against the civilian chain of command — my guess is that he won’t be.

If they don't like his message in the article, they are certainly not going to like it in response to a potential canning, especially since he's most likely the most suited officer on earth for the position he is filling.

the fact is that obama isn't respected by our military generals. they know this guy is weak. he uses the office to demand respect but he hasn't earned any of it. if they fire the guy, i hope he goes all over the media circuit and tells how bad of a leader obama is.

also the general isn't perfect, he does have some bad judgement.

he voted for hussein

I was with 3ID in Bosnia and my first trip to Iraq. I work with the 101st right now as well and my last two trips were with them.

KABUL -- Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates said Tuesday that his top commander in Afghanistan "made a significant mistake and exercised poor judgment" in making dismissive and derogatory remarks to a magazine reporter about U.S. government officials involved in Afghan policy.

I love Gates!

Question, did the general make these comments???? No he didn't. It was his staff. I know he is responsible for his staff, but SAID VERY LITTLE, IF ANYTHING.

Also, none of you "brilliant" people on this board have not asked how did we get to the point to where a general has to give an interview to get 'the muslim's' attention. Obviously hussein's (mis) management of the war has caused concern among the military brass.

Gen. Stanley McChrystal may eat only one meal a day, but he better be ready for a big helping of crow tomorrow when he comes to the White House Situation Room.

"The purpose of calling him here is to see what in the world he was thinking," White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said at today's briefing, referring to the Rolling Stone story featuring the general and his aides bashing President Obama, Vice President Biden and others.

The president was "angry," after he read the Rolling Stone story, Gibbs said, calling the story "an enormous mistake in judgment."

"The magnitude and graveness of this mistake are profound," Gibbs said.

Asked about a passage in the story where a McChrystal aide describes the general as having been "pretty disappointed" after his first meeting with President Obama because the president "didn't seem very engaged," Gibbs said McChrystal will "have his attention tomorrow."

Gibbs just said parents of the more than 90,000 US troops in Afghaniatan need to be confident that the command structure -- meaning McChrystal -- is "capable and mature enough" for this mission.

Could McChrystal be fired?

"All options are on the table," Gibbs said, though the president believes the general should be given a chance to explain himself. Gibbs declined to say whether the general's job is safe, saying the public would know more after the meeting.

What is the president angriest about?

"We're distracting from an enormously important mission," Gibbs said.

- Jake Tapper

Of course hussein is not engaging, he doesn't give a rats a$$ about the military or the war.

Gibbs implying that the general is not mature enough to handle this is a joke. his boss is the one who is immature and a thug. what a douchbag.

are you being an ass right now? I'm not accusing you or calling you that, I'm just asking a question.

no. I'm thanking my lucky stars that you showed up and laid the smack down and set this thread on the straight and narrow.

As blinded by your hatred as you are, I have a hard time thinking that you actually believe this. He has 90,000 people over there at his direction, with casualties every day. The weight of that has to be real to him, whether you like his politics of not.

why is a general doing interviews with rolling stone?

The author of the article — Michael Hastings, a freelance journalist — appears to have been granted intimate access to General McChrystal’s inner circle. Most of the comments appear to have been uttered during unguarded moments, in places like bars and restaurants where the general and his aides gathered to unwind. The issue of the magazine in which the article appears is due out Friday.

News Headlines

I don't get why they were allowing a freelance journalist this type of access especially if they were on the record at all times.

that man spent his whole (and short) senate career bashing the iraq war, his (and your) party basically accused soldiers of being rapist and murders by him and his fellow politicians. now, this fool is the leader of the same guys. this guy doesn't give a rat's butt about the military.
