General McChrystal opens mouth, inserts foot

I am appalled at the defense of this General's idiotic and immature tantrum via the press. For a military man, what he did is unforgiveable.

You have to separate what he says from his role and the fact that he simply is not allowed to say this publicly. Period.

/thread

you can seriously tell me that if some general had done this to bush that you wouldn't have applauded his patriotism.

I agree. He is military and the President is the commander in chief. Comments should NEVER come out publicly against him by you OR your immediate staff. How dumb can you be (no matter how frustrated you are) to talk that freely with a member of the press? However, where I am scratching my head is why are people calling for this guy's head, and when this happened almost on a weekly basis with W it was a pat on the back and way to go for being brave against the tyrants?

Bingo! Give the man a cigar!

Remember, with the libs it is always about advancing the statist agenda. Always!

I just wish conservatives had such a unified vision, focused on the advancement of Constitutional government.

They just need to be unified period. Their biggest problem is they can't seem to agree if they want to be Democrat Light, Screaming Religious Right wing nuts, or True Observers of the Constitution and it is costing them dearly.

So Obama is giving a speech/comments in the Rose Garden at 1:30? I guess we'll soon know what his decision is...

I believe this is changing, finally. It appears the moderates are moving back to the right, I just hope they stay that way. I don't want any more John McCain's representing the R in a national election. For the most part Rs will not win elections trying to be dem light.

If he resigned his post and then did it, probably so.

But under no circumstances should an active military leader publicly mock, whine, criticize, etc., the decisions of the civilian Commander in Chief, for publication.

This is not debatable. If it is true that Obama has relieved him of duty, I say kudos to Obama. And if it happened in reverse, as you posit, I'd say kudos to Bush.

I was not aware freedon of speech did not apply to everyone and in every forum. This guy has fought for every American to say what they want, then he gets fired for voicing his opinion?

Try that freedom of speech thing with your boss and let me know how it works out for you.

:hi:
