Geno Speaks

Like we need to get routed by 30 in a regular season game to know UCONN is the better program right now. Say what you want. Its the truth. I wouldn't pick UT to win 2 of 10 against them.

Pat has more class in one finger than Geno does his whole body...if there is a reason she stoped the playing them...then I stand behind her.....I don't think a lot of coaches like Geno.....you know Sh"t happens and Geno is living proof

What he's concerned about is giving us more exposure and that playing us every year would help make us better faster. He'd rather not help us than embarrass us. The last thing he wants is for us to be winning championships again.

That strategy hasn't helped Duke, although recruits haven't been scared away from the 30 point mauling Geno routinely administers to Duke...

This statement would suggest that Pat had very good reasons to suspend the series, ones that she simply chose not to make public: "The series ended in acrimonious fashion after UT filed with the SEC office more than 30 pages of complaints regarding Connecticut’s recruiting during a five-month period in 2006. Although the name was redacted in the documents, there was an apparent reference to then-top recruit Maya Moore’s visit to ESPN" (Geno Auriemma says playing Lady Vols).

Sour grapes.

"Me, personally, if it never happens I could care less. I could care less."

Maybe he should actually care less if he feels that way.

Geno has always been classless. I think he is still butthurt by his daughter's comments stating that Pat made Geno. She stated that Pat was the greatest coach in basketball history. I think it still bothers him. It should because it's true. The guy might win a lot of games but as a person he is a loser.

The biggest horse's a$$ in this story is not Geno, but the twit at ESPN who thinks it's her prerogative to meddle in the affairs of university athletic depts. If Geno says a Conn-Tenn game hasn't been on his mind, I can believe that. But I also believe there are idiots at ESPN with nothing better to do than obsess over a potential rematch to try and justify their own jobs. Let's not forget that they played a big role in the whole Maya Moore thing to start with.

I agree. ESPN has a lot to do with it. Seems they want to keep it stirred up and close to the surface. Geno doesn't care. Holly doesn't care. ESPN cares.

lol how naive are you? espn and the networks influence every single athletic department in men's football and basketball.

I think this is one of the apologies Geno wants? Is it ok for a recruits mother to use the school logo and name and make a profit?

Gallery - Bags by Kathryn M - Specializing in casual & spirit wear bags

Just to inject a bit of truth - Moore was not a "recruit" when her mother started selling handbags in the co-op. She was a player for UConn.

There was no condo and there was no job. That is all bullsheet. If anyone disagrees you are welcome to post your evidence here.

Setting aside emotions and personalities (or lack thereof), the question to debate is this: If Geno were coaching the current Vols team, would the results be different than what Holly is getting? Could he mold this talented group of AAs into a force to fear?

This is the one thing I wish we could have seen in a tell all book about Pat, because I bet whenever Geno retires he will tell his story about it and make it sound as terrible as he can.

Hell, it'd be the biggest women's 30 for 30 you could do pretty much, except it might show ESPN in a negative light, so it'd be hard to get done.

Pat had planned for her final book to be a tell all book, and was going to shed light on a lot of things she had never spoken about. The alzheimers got in the way of that. No one would have believed what she was saying. I think she made the right decision in hindsight, but it was definitely in the works.

How did her mother move to Storrs, CT (a very expensive city to live in) for the four years Maya was in school when she came from a low income area while Maya was in high school. If she had no job, how did she pay her bills to live there? She got the money somewhere. Selling cheap bags can only pay for so much...

As far as I am concerned there will never be another Pat in women's basketball. There may be pretenders but there will never be the real McCoy.
