Something has to be done to ensure NIL is used the way it was intended. Hendon and Hyatt’s NIL deals or Alontae’s Cookie Monster deal are perfect examples. Players create value and are able to capitalize.
NIL should not be a recruiting tool. Maybe a rule where players can’t be contacted for NIL opportunities or have any conversation related to NIL until after their first game. Penalties should be stiff. I’m talking “We found email that your collective sent to a high schooler. Your program is getting the death penalty” type strict. That’s the level of severity needed to make it effective, imo.
Ha, ha, Mack Brown implied; you inferred. That's the way it works.Nor will I, but anecdotally, it was inferred by Mack Brown the coach at NC that the usual suspects, those that currently ranked highest in the recruiting rankings (or their NIL entities) had made the attempt. To be fair, it could have been Alabama and Miami,
or anybody else, but when he said that, I personally thought Georgia and Alabama with Georgia being the most likely. He is not going to actually come out and say who it is, but for me he narrowed it down to a very small hand full of schools. I also think
he tossed out the dollar amount, but I could be wrong on him being the source there, but the amount had to come from somebody at North Carolina.
The only way to do that is if you are way at back of pack with losses and were horrible you can offer like a percentage more scholarship value or something than those that finished higher than you all the way up to the team that finished the best can offer the least valuable scholarship. NFL being a private business can do that. Players can choose to play elsewhere but won't because of the monopoly on the greatest players all together. Almost no one will pass up an NFL roster spot for say the CFL or arena or any other exhibition football. With College 120+ teams you cant force some kid to say hey because you were the best in high school the New Mexico Lobos draft you. So there is where it will never be fair. We will always have the Haves and the have nots. This is the reason the NFL draft system is conducted in reverse order of draft picks. It was a business decision. They realized it would destroy their game to have the same few teams winning the Super Bowl every year.
College football will eventually die out without some way to distribute talent more evenly. The 85 man roster limit was instituted in an attempt to prevent a few teams from loading up but the transfer and NIL deals have rendered that limitation worthless.
@vols40 Jealousy doesn't look good on you.= Not 2021 SEC champion. Because your coach is a lightweight. Barry Switzer won the super bowl remember
@vols40 Jealousy doesn't look good on you.
Why are you on this forum? We really don’t need a butt sniffing dog making comments especially since you don’t belong here. Shoo dog..go away. How does that comment make Kirby look foolish? It was an accurate statement. He would have looked foolish (and hypocritical) if he said something about never taking someone from the portal then taking someone.
Meh, I'll be glad when Bennett is gone, he is clutch, when they need a drive or a first down, he gets it. I'll be glad when they get someone more "talented" like NFL caliber Will Levis and Anthony Richardson, and less good at football.
According to alot of these scouts though they are, people get so hung up on measurables these days they often forget to see whether the prospect has demonstrated he can play football. Bennett's got that part down. Guys who play their best when it is most needed don't grow on trees, I'm glad we won't see him again.Yea, I don’t really consider those two to be NFL caliber but a Bryce level guy would be a huge upgrade for Georgis - something we don’t need.
Stop. That was exactly the intent of him making a foolish comment like that. He can recruit I'll give him that but he is an average at best game day coach. No one I can think of doing less with more than this tool. My opinion is he's very lucky Bama best receiver was not playing in the championship game had he been it's possible those 15 first round picks don't win the rematch
Lolol. What because you 1-15 vs Bama you a Bama apologist now? I guess you sore at kirby cuza all them ass-whippins. Tell me again what happened when the #1 team came to Athens? I know if it hadn't been raining if it hadnt been for the noise if it was on a neutral field if banks dont drop that int it was alot closer than what the final score showed. Did I leave any out? Kirby coming to your house next year and gonna give Heupel another ass whippin. But he ain't much of a game day coach. If he ain't, what that say about Heupel? He look like a deer in a headlight when he plays UGA.Stop. That was exactly the intent of him making a foolish comment like that. The landscape of college football is forever changing and not for the better. Georgia is going to need a lot more footballs and quarterbacks in order to make everyone happy.
They have recruited away (poached) Miss State's best receiver, Poached Missouri's best receiver, have multiple highly rated recruits coming in that are receivers.
Of course, they also tried to (poach) the North Carolina qb, apparently with an offer of 5M.
While they say that all is fair in love and war and while we are not directly affected, the imbalance created across NCAA football is pretty disturbing.
It is all about money, whoever has the most NIL money wins. Schools like Oklahoma and Miami are awful on the field but killing it in recruiting.
Why should schools like Miss State, Missouri, Vanderbilt even try to field a team if each year their best players are stolen or purchased away.
This seems to me to be all kinds of messed up. NIL and college football needs some sort of salary cap and some sort of rule limiting transfers.
(Note: I would not want to be in Georgia's receiving core room - knowing next year you might be replaced by a receiver from Baylor or somewhere else.)
Georgia and Miami seem to be throwing around the most money - Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A and M, Alabama
I am not offering up any answers or solutions, just observing how messed up this appears to be.
If Georgia gets an NFL caliber QB then we're in big(ger) trouble. They have all the other pieces. I like Bennent as a tough college QB who is playing for the team he loves - can't take anything away from him. But this Georgia roster with a Bryce Young would be truly scary.
So, in your words, Georgia might repeat as National Champion this year, but that's despite the head coach running the program.
Got it.

Kirby has a lot of good things going for him. Can't beat his recruiting ability imo. But has flubbed his choice of qb several times alaready. Ga. should have actually won 2 nc already. He had the best talent. As long as Kirby continues to recruit as he is now, there will be more to come. Fulmer at Tn in his best years was an outstanding recruiter, and if he been a good game day coach Tn. would have won multiple nc, but he was a terrible game day coach. With that said if I had to choose between coaches, where one was a great recruiter and the other was a great game day coach but not so good as recruiting. I would take the good recruiter. Because to win you do have to have the players.
I think there has to be some kind of control in the NIL system. If collectives are contacting players before they actually declare for the portal, that is tampering. The player may not even had intentions of entering the portal until they were contacted with an offer to transfer to a certain school, and they would be given an NIL deal worth x amount of $'s. I think it's already supposed to be a part of the NIL system, but it seems like it's happening.
I wonder what good comes from a guy with the stature of Mack Brown tossing out half-baked allegations with zero evidence, or with evidence but too cowardly to name names. If he's bothered enough to make claims he ought to back it up. If it happened, call people out.
