Georgia vs Oregon

Seems like a lot of the focus in practice is on finding the right people to play smart and fast and make good decisions. And with Oregon's O line that should mean the QBs should have time to make good decisions with the ball.

Love our linebackers this year. Pretty green at the corners on D, but they are talented.

Don’t look for UGA to change their basic strategies, especially in Game 1. Run the ball, set up screens and look for the play action gash play. Defense: front 7 attacks on every snap. Trust your corners.

I would not be surprised to see 2 TE formations, looking to get a favorable matchup against a LB. With UGA’s ground game and TE’s, the Duck LB’s are going to be tested.

I think UGA has too many weapons / options for Oregon to cover them all. Likewise, I think UGA’s speed on defense will cause problems.

No idea what the line is or will be, but I like UGA by 10-17. First game always a crapshoot on points.

Just as a FWIW, I think UT boatraces Ball State.

Go Vols.

Oregon will lose by 17, min. Their new OC is terrible. This is not Cristobal's team.

I don't think you could consider the Ducks offense during the Cristobal years anything spectacular. He had a QB named Justin Herbert and whenever he needed short yardage he took the ball out of Herbert's hands and very predictably gave it to a RB. Yes, he built a very good Oline and had good RBs, but the calls were so predictable that it was frustrating. Point is Dillingham should be an upgrade on the offensive side of the ball.

I liked Mario just fine, he was just a bit to committed to relying on the run. Defenses adjusted, especially Utah, Mario made them look good.

The UGA TE group is incredible. Bowers is unbelievable, then you have a 2 guys behind him who are 5 ⭐️. I wouldn’t be surprised to see all 3 on the field at the same time. They’re going to be a matchup nightmare for everyone they play.

UGA’s three TEs are better WRs than our top 3 WRs.

Their TE room is ridiculous.

For me, this is a very enlightening board, thanks. So my take on this game right now is that I think the most interesting matchup will be Georgia's TEs vs Oregon's LBs. And that's a tough match up for both sides.

Next problem, if the Ducks LBs are too occupied with the GA TEs then it's up to the rest of the d line to contain the GA running game and that could be a problem. The Ducks have to make GA throw the ball to someone other than the TEs.

@joevol33

You name your boat yet? I have another suggestion: “Nauti Hooker”.

Oh…UGA wins. No idea by how much, but this is UGA’s game to lose, and they won’t.

Go Vols.
Nauti Hooker....I like that. Where were you guys talking boat names? I've got a 38' cat on order so I'm looking at names as well.

Do you play a 4-3 or 3-4?

Unfortunately, expect an a$$ whooping for your Ducks.

Admittedly, my expectations are low and my hopes are high. New coach, first game for a new head coach, new staff, new philosophy, defending national champion for an opponent, home field game for the opponent. Ducks with a new starter at QB and its still undecided who will start.

The Ducks certainly are very talented, excellent o line, very good talent on the defensive side of the field. Linebackers anyone in the country would love to have. Lots of people playing multiple positions or new positions. Sounds like a couple true freshmen just might make the two deep.

As for Duck TE's we've got a couple decent TEs that have in the past been injured a lot, but it looks like they are finally healthy. New depth at the RB position, one RB moved to receiver, which in my mind is probably a smart thing for his talents.

To the best of my knowledge, Coach Lanning has installed a 3-4 defense.

I'm sure he has. The OLBs will be rushing or setting the edge. That leaves your ILBs and Safeties to cover our TEs. Bowers is 6'-4", 240#. Gilbert is 6'-6", 250#, Washington is 6'-7", 270#. They will be difficult matchups for ILBs and safeties.

Your best bet may be getting to the QB. Bennet can and will scramble, but at times he will get shaken and out of sorts. Like the SEC championship last year.

If you let him get in a rhythm he is good enough to pick you apart with the weapons he has.

It was some thread Joe started about a fishing boat.

38' cat...sweet..what brand? I teach LE tactics on boats...13 years and still going...and I love what a cat can do in open water. We don't have them. We run 31' Contenders; 25' USCG RB-S's; and 33' USCG RB-M's, but we see everything out there, and gimme a 32-35' cat with twin 300's or water jets, and I'm all over it.

Cat hull deserves a "cat name". I'll think on it.

Go Vols.
