Gilbert: Black and Gold the new Orange and White

I didn't even bother to read this article because anything Gilbert writes is a waste of time. Hes still mad at UT because he tried to turn us in for cheating about 15 years ago and it backfired on him.

Consider the miserable "source" of this article:

"Columnist Bob Gilbert – former Associated Press writer, retired University of Tennessee news director and author of the Bob Neyland biography – can be reached at rwgilbert@charter.net."

It's his (Gilbert's) opinion...he can "step off" Vandy's miserable stadium!
Just ask my band kids...Vandy has the worst stadium in the SEC!

They made the best of what they had to work with and had better coaching and we didn't...and we are in the middle of changing that...but even if we don't, they'll never be UT.

Let's get 'em bUTch!
I want payback for that Vandy game!!

GO VOLS!!

Circumstances happened the last few years where Vandy went out and hired a great up and coming coach while UT hired a losing moron who had no business coaching in the SEC, Kentucky included.

James Franklin is a very good coach, and I applaud the Commodore Program for an Historic year, but could you imagine the uproar if UT had hired an Offensive Coordinator from an ACC school as their head coach? Only a program like Vandy could get away with that. They won the lottery, let's see how far it takes them.

So indicative of our culture these days. Jump on the bandwagon without consideration of sustainability or the past. Poor journalism.

P.S. Butch when we beat vandy in 2013 please don't encourage the players to party like its 1999. It should be routine. Thanks.

Franklin a top 10 coach in the nation? Negative

Nick Saban
Urban Meyer
Bob Stoops
Chris Peterson
Frank Beamer
Mike Gundy
Les Miles
Gary Patterson
Chip Kelly
Steve Spurrier
Mark Dantonio
Bill Snyder
Dabo Swinney
Kevin Sumlin
Steve Sarkisian
Jim Mora Jr
Paul Johnson
Bret Bielema
Brian Kelly
Will Muschamp

All of those and more I couldn't think of are better than Franklin IMO. I think he is a good coach, great motivator. I think he realized
that he had an untapped base in Nashville that he could build with selling staying home and building something right in their back yard. He also has thrown the no talent in tn thing out the window. He will not be at Candy much longer if he keeps winning, so enjoy it.

Fwiw the list is not in any order except the first one, and when I tried to type vandy my iPhone changed it to candy, guess it really is a smart phone!!!!

Franklin is better than everyone below Spurrier on your list, plus Gundy. He is getting more out of less better than anyone in the country and he is doing it in the SEC.

Franklin leads the country in moral victories

ROFL! What a crap piece of writing. Vandy is the new state powerhouse? haha. Win a couple of East titles and maybe an SEC championship or 2 and then we'll talk about "maybe". Still, I never EVER see Vandy in a BCS bowl

So their best team in 85 years wins the Music City Bowl in front of 35,000 people and they are now the football standard in the State of Tennessee?

Quite a leap there.

Were you ROFL when we weren't even competitive against them this year? In this moment, they're the best football team in the state - that's all the article was saying and they're right.

Fanklin and his 2*s moped the floor with us this year...I'd say that's more than a moral victory.

beating a the Dooley-coached 2012 Vols was not a great feat. His only claim to fame is keeping his losses close and beating bad teams

one game does not change anything in how the programs are viewed

1st year in 97 years for 9 wins and the crown has already been passed. What a f'in JOKE!

The media is completely worthless these days.

And I'm sure if we won 9 games in the SEC you'd be dismissing that too, right? Dude can flat out coach regardless of whether or not you like him personally.

franklin= complete douche. UT will take care of business from here on... Did you see how he went off on a 280+ lineman trying to block on a interception in the bowl game?! He accidentally stepped into the return man's path and they went out of bounds after a 40+ yard return. Franklin proceeded to bless the guy out for about 15 seconds on TV. Then a couple of plays later he goes up and pretends to kiss a player on the mouth?! Guy is nutzzz. He has guys graduating that he hasn't replaced, we will be fine next year and the years to come.

Franklin has been at Vandy 2 years.
Both years he has had Rodgers as a QB.
Now Rodgers is gone. Let's see how he will do without him next year.
He's already bailed out on the season opener against Urban Meyer. Pu$$y !

Who's Gilbert?

He's complete hack from middle Tennessee that nobody on earth reads except a few people on VolNation that don't know any better.

Franklin is a good coach but I think he has already reached the pinnacle of what he will be able to do at Vandy.

Think Vandy can beat bamer in next years SEC Championship Game? I wonder how close they would come to upsetting the Patriots? <a tad bit of sarcasm employed>.

CBJ will have this framed in the locker room. Oh ya, instant motivation!

Franklin has done more than couldve been expected with what he has been given. The stats don't lie: he won nine games this year.

His competition was suspect. No doubt.

He had the luxory of playing the worst Auburn and UT programs in recent history.

He had the amazing fortune of playing a struggling, shell shocked, Mizzou team who lost their star player and backbone.

His bedt victory was against ole miss, but I personally think CHF will be a force in coming years.

He played a bowl game, at home, against a team whose head coach had been fired and who lost to UT (see point above about worst UT team in recent memory).

I think that you will see a step back for Franklin next year. New and more competant coaches at emberrased schools makes for a tricky situation next year. I dont care how competative he was against UF or Scar, he didnt win and that is meaningless or we would have a win against LSU and UNC under Dooley.

The Titans would lay the hammer down on them. :)
