Good thing Tennessee didn’t hire Lane!

Serious question: what do you think Heupel's record would be if he were hired, right now with much more experience than Kiffin had when he was given the job, as HC of an NFL team? How do you think Heupel would do, right now, at USC?

Take your answer, and I'll take my answer, and we'll see in a couple years, or more likely a couple months, which one of us was right.
My basis of comparison was their first four years in COLLEGE. I don’t see Heupel doing any better than Kiffin…or Saban for that matter in the NFL. You coach at the level you’re at and that’s what’s available for our consumption. I’ll admit that your “wait to see” suggestion sounds crazy enough to work…you been hanging around covens in your spare time? 😉

You left out the minor details of major scholarship reductions, bowl ban, etc. He only took over the program at the one of the worst points in its history.

Because it's irrelevant. It didn't affect recruiting at all, as he still pulled top 5 classes each of his first 2 seasons and pulled a top 10 class his 3rd season. USC recruits itself. So his failures at USC were completely on him, and not from a mess left over from Carroll.

You have an odd definition of "failed" regarding what he did here. He went to a bowl in his first season - remind me the last coach to do that here besides him? He also came within a blocked field goal of beating Bama - remind me of the last coach to do that here, first year or otherwise?

He also had more success at his most recent stop - you know, the one that matters the most, since, you know, people are capable of learning and getting better at stuff they do - than any other coach in their history.

Stop lying.

Kiffin took over a Vols team that was very talented at every position except QB, highlighted by an All American and Heisman candidate on defense in Eric Berry. We lost to a crappy UCLA team at home and got completely blown out by Ole Miss.

If you're bringing up FAU to try and prove a point, you've already lost.

Lane had a job here. The reason Lane Kiffin is not the coach at the University of Tennessee was Lane Kiffin’s decision. No one else’s.
And Lane realizes that too. He knows he screwed up and if he knew then what he knows now, he would not have left for USC. Hindsight for sure but I believe he would have stayed.

Oh…like Heupel?

And Heupel actually has to deal with fallout, unlike Kiffin. Heupel didn't have a top 5 recruiting class fall in his lap like Kiffin did at USC. In fact, with all transfers we've had, it will honestly be a huge accomplishment if CJH can take us to 6 wins and take us bowling.

The scholarship reductions show up down the road. Kiffin took over a stacked USC team. They had signed the 1,2 4, 3, 2 ranked classes in the nation in the years leading into Kiffin landing there.

Same way you discovered the “information”. Copy and paste for mass edification please.
I discovered it by talking to Randy’s parents. Hang on. I’ll see if I can get a video of them telling me and then I’ll post it here.

Dr Boyd’s parents. How conveniently unverifiable. 😏 How about your girlfriend in Niagara Falls?
Think real hard about what kind of evidence would be verifiable. If the effort doesn’t kill you, you’ll realize this was a stupid line of questioning.

I’ll drop all subtlety. I think you’re a ******* name dropping liar! Prove me wrong or don’t. I ran out of ***** and don’t feel like going to Costco. Feel free to use elderly sources who prolly don’t know you from Adam. You can expect appropriate bought stock from the qualified “stupid”.

Of course! That's why we had to outbid Ole Miss to get Heupel. Oh, wait...Nobody but us wanted him. Kiffin left of his own accord the one time he coached at a major football school as a coordinator; Heupel got fired. But don't let that get in the way of your narrative.

Also, the last time I checked, UCF has as much better talent than FAU as Bama does than us. Minor detail.
Last time I checked Lane Kiffin was fired by the Raiders...Al Davis warned our AD not to hire him...nobody else wanted him....we hired him...he bolted at the first chance he got to USC...got fired there...Lane has been fired a whole lot. He also wrecked our program. So why you clowns want him back here makes as much sense as USC hiring him back as their next HC.

I rarely post on here and trying to impress “Butchna” is certainly not a priority. You act like they’re damn celebrities. Being able to speak to either is not a big deal. They’re both pretty accessible and nice folks.

One told me that directly and I know that parent a lot better.

The other I was kind of a side party to the conversation. Another guy in that conversation is a local businessman I know is pals with Basilio. If Basilio really reported that, I’ll bet that is where he got it.

Believe what you want.

That’s untrue. Arkansas and Clemson both had interest.

Third cousin twice removed who has the Basilio app confirmed. Not even Tony is trotting out this tripe. Good talk. 😴

Tennessee’s pride has become laughable. Ole Miss sure is enjoyable to watch!!! Wonder how Tennessee would look right now if they’d just swallowed their pride and gone after him when they could have. Tennessee will unfortunately struggle for many more years.
Cool story

Wouldn't be surprised to see usc give Kiffin a 2nd chance, throw the bank at him and hire him away.

No or else wanted him? He already interviewed with Syracuse and Clemson, and was a serious candidate at Washington.
