Got 99 problems and a Butch is one

Crazy to think that 6 weeks ago a contract extension was in the works

I would think that this could be the WORST possible case scenario for this team.

I support UT, but if there is anything we should have learned from this mess is that NO contract extensions should be offered until proven worthy of it.

If he goest 8-4 next year and has a second recruiting class that ends in the top 5 THEN maybe consider an extension but at this point he has done nothing to earn an extension.

Don't get me wrong it pisses me off that we are in our third straight season with no bowl. But, I also have enough smarts to realize we are one season in with a new head coach. His second year record had always been better in every job he's had. He's got a great recruiting class going. AND... No one can name a single damn coach out there that would come here and have instant success, guaranteed.

So sorry I'm not crawling up in a little ball, sucking my thumb, and complaining about a head coach that hasn't "shocked the world" his first season in...

Beating Vandy at home, at night, following a a bye week, with four players from their secondary injured by halftime would not have been shocking the world.

Fake field goal on 4th and 19 is taking a chance . starting a true freshmen in the heart of a tough sec schedule . That is taking a chance . We ( my vols and I) have exceeded any rational expectations from the beginning of this season . I guess you think you are a better coach than Butcher, I don't .

Fake field goal = dumb
True freshman starting at QB = no choice

1-50 players have a culture of losing and a losers mentality and have done just enough to get by on the team. These are the players that didn't do their workouts and ticked them off. There are about 30-35 players that don't have that mentality. You can see it when you watch them play. They go all out every play. We need more like Al Wilson and Inky Johnson not Bryce Brown and Nukeesee Richardson

If your QB and WRs suck, it really limits a coach's playcalling abilities. With the right personnel you can really open things up. Not there yet from a talent perspective, so Butch looks mediocre. Don't be fooled.

I wish people would get their panties out of a bunch about this "best staff in the nation" nonsense. Tell me...why would the best coaches in the nation want to come to Tennessee right now? We have been through 2 coaching searches that left us getting Dooley and then Butch Jones. I remember what I thought about Butch when he was first hired. I was not enthused. We can't even attract or keep former players who became coaches. Why would the best coaches in the nation come to UT? Did anyone really think he was going to be able to bring in the top in the nation? What did you expect him to say when talking about the coaching staff? That he was going to get who he could? I'm sure he was pumped up and thinking he could do anything as head coach of the Volunteers. There are plenty of issues to go around but quit whining and complaining about the coaching staff. I swear...this fan base is a joke. The idea of having a place to come and discuss your favorite team is awesome but I'm getting to the point where I would rather discuss the Vols with my 7 year old daughter than some of the clowns that post on this forum.

Then just shut up and hit the road.

Wow, your expectations must be pretty damn low.

When is it going to sink in that this program was nuked by Kiffen and Hamilton? Why do you think the first 10 coaches we offered turned us down? UT is not the job it once was its going to take years to rebuild to where we once were. We have the coach in place that will get us out of the cellar but we as fans have to show patience. I hate to loose as much as the next guy but our team mostly Dooley's recruits has a history of folding up the sidewalks midway through the season.

His inability to tell his oc to throw the freaking ball deep. I mean a 15 yd slant to pig would have loosened them up

The Joshes (Dobbs/Smith) are both Butch recruits and both TERRIBLE... so I'm supposed to trust CBJ's talent evaulation? No Brian Kelly recruits to lean on for the brick master this time around.

We have a lack of talent.

We have a lack of experience.

We have a lack of will to win.

Each one of those can be fixed with time. And LOL at anyone that puts the third on CBJs, I have a hard time getting one teenager to buy into WTF I'm saying I cannot imagine getting a whole team to buy in.

This is a huge overreaction. Dobbs and Smith are freshmen that needed a year of development, but were needed as contributors early due to piss poor depth (and in Dobbs' case, a completely unforeseeable situation where every QB was injured but him). Also, stop acting like Butch was hanging his hat on those two players as the prizes of the recruiting class. Give him time. Allow players to develop and mature within the system while being coached by a staff that they truly respect.

Jancek celebrating the 4th down "non stop" like a school girl on meth was a problem for me. Anyone with eyes and half a brain would know that it would be overturned. No reason to ever pat the head coach on the azz. Act like you've been there Jancek. Oh yeah you haven't. My bad

give me a ******* break. They thought they won the game with a big stop and were heading towards their goal.
And for the record, Jancek has a couple of SEC championships.
It's easier to overreact to everything like a little girl though, so I get it.

Yes, and Patton Robinnette is a freshman also but he made the game winning touchdown. But don't let that fact disrupt the old "youth, inexperience, blah blah" excuses we're all so used to around here.

Jancek has a couple of SEC championships? As a coordinator? Really please elaborate?

Everyone in the stadium knew the spot was bad including CBJ. Jancek should have immediately been preparing for 1st and 10.
