Got 99 problems and a Butch is one

Jancek has a couple of SEC championships? As a coordinator? Really please elaborate?

Everyone in the stadium knew the spot was bad including CBJ. Jancek should have immediately been preparing for 1st and 10.

I meant multiple conference championships. One at Ga. You said he needed to act like he had been there before with a, "but he hasn't" sarcastic comment. Uninformed at best.
As for the overturn, it hardly ever happens on the spotting of the ball on a play like a qb sneak because you can't see the ball. At any rate, when coaches stop getting excited about 4th down stops to win a game, let me know. Imo, it's something to act like a ***** about just for the hell of it. Jancek resume below. It appears he has been there before.

◾Coached in seven bowl games while helping teams to five conference championships and one national championship
◾Joins the Vols after spending the last three seasons at Cincinnati
◾Worked as the Bearcats sole defensive coordinator in 2012 after serving as UC's co-defensive coordinator in 2010 and 2011
◾Also served as Bearcats recruiting coordinator for two seasons, signing the Big East's top recruiting class according the Sporting News in 2011
◾Coached UC's defense to a Top 20 ranking in scoring defense in 2011 and 2012
◾Guided UC to the nation's leading defense in terms of tackles for loss (8.62 per game) and second in sacks (3.46) in 2011
◾In 2012, coached Greg Blair to First Team All-Big Easthonors after the senior finished the season leading the Big East in tackles with 138 on the year
◾Coached 2011 Big East Co-Defensive Player of the Year and current Denver Broncos defensive end Derek Wolfe as well as First Team All-Big East selections Drew Frey and JK Schaffer
◾Schaffer, a two-year captain, was the 2011 American Eagle Outfitters Big East Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year. He is just the fourth player in Big East history to register at least 100 tackles in three consecutive seasons, culminating in a career-high 114 stops in the 2011 season. He earned All-Big East First Team honors in 2011 after he ranked third in the conference in tackles (8.8 per game)
◾Prior to Cincinnati, spent five seasons at the University of Georgia (2005-09)
◾Coached the linebackers in all five seasons with the Bulldogs and served as co-defensive coordinator in 2009
◾During his five years in Athens, helped the Bulldogs to 48 wins, two BCS Bowl games, an SEC Championship and finished in the Top 10 three times
◾In 2009, mentored Rennie Curran, who led the SEC in tackles and was a finalist for the Lombardi and Bendarik Awards before going to the play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
◾In 2008, UGA linebacker Darryl Gamble earned the Bronco Nagurski National Player of the Week honor and received an ESPN Helmet Sticker from the College Gameday Final crew after intercepting a pair of passes for touchdowns against LSU
◾Coached at Central Michigan from 2003-04 working with the defensive line his first year and as defensive coordinator in the second season
◾Worked at Division II power, his alma mater, Grand Valley State from 1999-2002, helping GVSU to the D-II National Championship under current Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly in 2002
◾Also worked at Wayne State (1992-96), Central Florida (1996), Hillsdale College in Michigan (1996-98)
◾Muskegeon, Mich., native, graduated from Grand Valley State in 1991 and earned a master's degree from Wayne State in 1994
◾Jancek and his wife Kelly have four children, Zac (16), Brock (13), Jack (11), and Brady (10)

Yes, and Patton Robinnette is a freshman also but he made the game winning touchdown. But don't let that fact disrupt the old "youth, inexperience, blah blah" excuses we're all so used to around here.

How many passes did Robinette throw, Einstein? If you're going to compare freshman quarterbacks that can only run, why not compare their rushing stats? Oh yeah, because it would make your point seem as irrelevant as your VolNation presence.

im not judging him one bit until dooleys trash is off the team.

How is it that we on these boards continually spout "VFL", yet call kids "trash" that have given their all for UT - they have certainly shed more blood sweat and tears than have you?????? I guess you have succeeded in everything you have ever tried to do, huh? Dooley's "trash" have been subjected to some of the most laughable coaching and ridiculous circumstances in the history of Tennessee football and, it appears, continue to suffer from a lack of effective leadership.

If your comments are representative of UT fans, then the VFL "promise" itself is "trash". Will we all be calling some of the recruits in the next class "trash" after a year or two of not winning? If so, which ones?

If you don't like the kids that give their all for Tennessee, then I suggest you cheer for someone else.
Many on these boards act like they have some sort of birthright to win SEC football games just because they put on Orange and spend a few hours sitting on their butts watching a game. Give me a frickin' break. :clapping:

1. That team came out as unprepared and unfocused as any UT team in the past decade. That's on Butch.
Thats an assumption based on performance but you might be right.

2. No speed
Its the SEC, everyone is fast.

3. No strength
Not on Butch, on S&C Coach

4. No size
Not on Butch, on the players moms and dads

5. No depth
Not on Butch, more on Dooley

6. No athletic ability
Not on Butch, more on players

7. No heart
Not on Butch, more on players, but this is a fan's opinon

8. No mental toughness
Same as item #7

9. Not the best staff in America.
Thats a fan created myth

10. No QB
This is accurate, but hey, who else you gonna throw out there at this point in the year?

Feel free to finish the other 89 on your own. Should be a pretty easy task.

I've always said that players make the coach. If that is indeed true, we need a boat load of studs to actually turn this mess around. The good news is (if there actually is any) ...........it appears we've got the Titantic (full of recruits) ready to dock in Knoxville.

Response in bold.

Let me help you out and simplify Janceks coaching history. He was Georgia's LB coach from 2005-2008. In 2009 Martinez was "THE" Defensive coordinator and Richt made Jancek co-coordinator (not equal). Doesn't matter their defense was awful and he and Martinez were fired. Hired at Cincinnati in 2010 as the co-coordinator in charge of game planning however Tim Banks made all the game day calls in 2010 and 2011. Jancek named DC for the 2012 season. Cincinnati finished 2012 ranked 63rd nationally in yards allowed. This year they are top 10. I like CBJ overall but Jancek is not qualified to be the DC here.

I don't need your help. If I want to act like a whiny bich, I have plenty of resources here. You can have any opinion on Jancek that you want, but your reaction to coaches getting excited over what they thought was a win shows me that you actually haven't been there before, while telling a man on the staff of multiple championships that he hasn't won anything.

Okay, I'll play along. Dobbs had 11 carries for 23 yds, a 2.1 avg. Robinnette had 10 carries for 41 yds, a 4.1 avg and oh, did I mention the game winning touchdown? I don't remember him running backwards 15 yds either. What else ya got?

Ok that would be a good reason the first 5 or 6 games of the season but by game 11 there should be considerable improvement especially playing vanderbilt at home with 2 weeks to prepare. Vanderbilt does not have more talent than UT they simply have a coach that gets the most out of what he has

Vanderbilt does not have more talent than UT?? Let's start with Jordan Matthews ( top 15 NFL pick) and an entire defensive secondary that ALL know where to be and can ALL tackle. Joe Townsend at center is no slouch, either. I'm leaving several out here. This is, also, James Franklin's 3rd year. Let's all have this same discussion at the end of Butch Jones's 3rd year. CBJ and staff are trying to make "chicken salad out of chicken .....). I'm as frustrated as anybody, but, we gotta be fair here, my friends.

How is it that we on these boards continually spout "VFL", yet call kids that have given their all for UT (they have certainly shed more blood sweat and tears than have you) "trash?????? Apparently, the VFL slogan itself is "trash". You, sir, are a wonderful representative of our university. :clapping:

Good point I ran into Marlon Walls at Pilot after the game very early Sunday morning. I could immediately see he was really hurting emotionally. I told him he played a good game and keep your head up. All he said was "man it's rough we wanted to win so bad".

Coaching staff is fair game to a point anyway but not the kids. Saying a certain player had a bad game or saying something obvious like Josh Smith can't catch a pass to save his life is ok I think but to call a player trash, bum etc is not.

I think the pressure got to everyone--youngsters want to get a bowl game for the seniors. Seniors realize its the last home game for their carrers and want to win. Coaches trying not to lose. Bad night for all in orange.

Let's go beat KY and end on a positive notre

This and thanks, Spartaca. Well done.

So "moral" TD's are kind of like "moral" victories now? But you're right, with our defense Robinette was never in danger of being sacked.

That couldn't be credited to Vandy's coaching because of all that talent they have from perennial top 10 recruiting classes!

What is your argument? Your original point was that Dobbs being a freshman isn't an excuse because vandy had a freshman QB run for a game winning TD. He was used as a situational player whereas Dobbs was THE GUY. If you are going to compare them, you must first remove the unlike variables (passing, thus sack yardage, and an arbitrary penalty that nullified a game winning TD). After those things are equalized, what do you have? You have virtually no difference in their performances.

So I'm whiny because I know more then you and don't have to copy and past the information? Jancek doesn't have multiple championships as a DC anywhere. That's like giving Dooley credit for championships because he coached for Saban. I give Jancek credit for coaching LB's at UGA when they won the SEC championship in 2005. That's it thats his resume unless you're giving him credit for being the DC for the Hillsdale Chargers, Wayne State Warriors or Grand Valley State Lakers. Not making that up he spent 10 years at those schools. Not that there is anything wrong with that. Just not impressed.

Do you honestly think the defense has been well coached and prepared this year?

This is a huge overreaction. Dobbs and Smith are freshmen that needed a year of development, but were needed as contributors early due to piss poor depth (and in Dobbs' case, a completely unforeseeable situation where every QB was injured but him). Also, stop acting like Butch was hanging his hat on those two players as the prizes of the recruiting class. Give him time. Allow players to develop and mature within the system while being coached by a staff that they truly respect.

Well said, SamRebel. Could not agree more.

My point is that Robinnette, situational player or not, made the plays and THE play when he had to. But I take back saying Dobbs is terrible; his regression since Bama is more reflective of the lack of development by the BS in A.

Coaching credit was not the question; talent level of VU vs. talent level of UT was the point. Frankly, you sound like some jilted sophmore prom queen, dude. Be patient, for Christ sake.

No, you are whiny because you moaned about a coach slapping another coach on the ass after what he thought was a big stop and win.
He's been on the staff of many wins an championships. You said he hadn't been there before. You were wrong. I copied and pasted it for others to see that you were.
And if you do know more than me, you'd realize defense last Saturday was well down the list of problems, which is probably why you chose something so stupid to act like a p***y about.

LOl you amuse me with your name calling. When short on facts it's the next best thing. Jancek has never "been there" as a coordinator. He should have immediately known that wasn't a stop.

Actually I chose Jancek's celebrating a "non stop" because it occured in the middle of a 92 yard game winning drive by the most anemic offense short of our's and Florida's in the SEC.

Fair enough, but how is Robinette making THE play when he had to any different from Dobbs doing the exact same thing just moments earlier? Dobbs did his job exceedingly well on that play in a huge situation. Give him credit for that. Not his fault Pig needlessly blocked a player in the back who had already taken himself out of the play.

Are we really down to saying Vandy has more talent than UT? Matthews, definitely. But where else? And yes I'm basing a lot of that on recruiting rankings. What was Vandy trotting out when their entire secondary was injured? What did our innovative OC do to exploit it? I'll be patient and await your response.

gutwrenching drive. Looking out there at probst, toney, Arnold and swafford trying to stop them with no pass rush, I didn't feel good about it.
Like I said, opine about the coaches and their mistakes till you are blue. Acting like you are about an excited coach after a stop to end the game pretty much shows your overall understanding of the emotions on the field. It was weak and I called you on it. That's about it.
Hey, your boy Gruden does it all the time. Maybe he is their idol.
