I'm not sure you can name 5 people better than Bruce and then the question is how much are you willing to pay?

Is Tennessee willing to outbid everyone else for the hottest coaching commodities I the country?

Doesn't mean he'll do it in a big boy conference. Doesn't mean he'll take the job even.

As a college student, I haven't been watching UT basketball for as long as some of you guys, and the only success I've seen with this program was under Pearl. I've never seen a more genuine and likable guy here at UT. If UT doesn't bring him back and brings in some small school no-name, I'm done. Just ******* done. UT will deserve all the failure that is to come for not bring him back.

I really wish I could remember exactly what Mickey said, but I was driving in traffic and it was hard to concentrate but I do remember Mickey saying that Bruce was told more than once by the administration not to do particular things and he defied them and did them anyway. I wish I could remember more of the details. He mentioned Bruce lying to the NCAA. Mickey said the "bump" incident was over 9 minutes long. Surely someone else on Volnation was listening this morning and can help us out.

Luckily UT isn't hiring 5 head coaches, they're hiring one.

Marshall has interviewed twice, so it's apparent he wants the job and is a better coach than Pearl.

There are also MANY coaches on the rise without the baggage that would take the job. People want to act like he is the only one who can win here, and that is just ignorant.

The fact that Doyel is actually on board with rehiring Pearl says a lot. He raked him over the coals back in his last season. Now he's on board with UT rehiring him? Things I thought I'd never see.

I still don't think it'll happen, but the more and more this kind of stuff keeps popping up doesn't hurt his chances.

We won't get a coach who is on the rise because Hart will not pay them their value. In basketball, he will try to take the cheap way out.

Our new hire will be from Texas State or from Florida Central Junior College!!!!!!!!

What is more insane is people thinking that we'd be able get Gregg Marshall to come to UT for a complete rebuild at a modest salary.

I don't even listen to sports radio that often but I have noticed that Mickey really, really carries the water for the Lady Vols and that's totally understandable. Sometimes he can be comical in his defense of the Lady Vols coaching staff so I'm willing to take his Bruce Pearl comments with a grain of salt. But I felt they were really serious and I would like to hear some clarification from some of you that know more about what Mickey said. Thanks!

Not many people want to hear this, but I actually agree with you.

Also, I personally don't want Dave Hart listening to any petitions or journalists when it comes to making decisions like this (I know he will "listen" to fans when they don't show up...) because those same people will turn on him just as quickly if something goes wrong. Fans are unbelievably fickle, especially TN fans.

Dave Hart has a lot more on the line with these coaching positions than any of us EVER will (it's what he gets paid LOTS of $$$ to do). He will do what he thinks is in the best interest of the program or he will be out of a job if they fail.

The better question is to ask, "Name 5 coaches better than Bruce Pearl who would actually take the UT job?"

People can name 5 coaches better than Pearl, but who is really going to come to UT out of those 5? Probably 0.

And for those asking if Pearl could have the same success as before. Maybe, maybe not, but it sure as hell can't be any worse than what we've seen the last 3 years. I'd take my chances on a Pearl who has had 3 years to recharge his batteries and be thankful for a second chance. He's won everywhere he has been. There is no reason to think he won't win again.
