So you think Florida's defensive plan doesn't change if you insert Bradshaw in for Horford... do you think any of those "tough teams" wouldn't have to have a change of philosophy if you substituted their 4 with Bradshaw. You play to the strengths of your team to get the most out of them. Pearl got the most out of the Lofton and Bradshaw teams. Inconsistent play? Yes, but that team was filled with inconsistent players. Was it ever going to win a championship? No, but you sure as hell were probably expecting them to.

If we had pressed OSU more starting the 2nd half, we would've won that. Every occasion I got to hear Pearl speak during that offseason, he was sick because he went away from the style that was best suited for that team, and we blew a big lead in the 2nd half.

Tempo didn't, but the fact that we created turnovers did. We had no size and not much strength, and if a team got us in a half-court situation we were in serious trouble. So, we gambled instead.

Anyway, I don't exactly get why we'd be criticizing the coaching that year. Any team that starts Asumnu and Wingate, and has Dane Bradshaw as a power forward, has no business winning the sun belt, much less the SEC East.

Because they think that a team like Florida or UCLA who had the pieces to run a half-court style of game is a good comparison to make to TN when we had those players you mentioned. Yes, the style we are running now is best suited for March. However, we had no other option than to play that style with the personnel we had.

Chris wasn't as effective in a slow-downed half-court game. He was much more effective getting threes in transition. He was a great shooter there is no doubt and I don't think anyone would argue that in any format he would be a great shooter but that's the exception. CJ and JaJuan's game on the other hand thrived in up-tempo offenses. Golden State proved that with CJ.

Griff is pissed that people like Hat who are famous(or maybe infamous :))on Volnation for giving their opinions (good, bad, or ugly) are highly respected whether posters agree with them or not. Every time Writer32 got on here with an opinion he got completely wasted by the tenants of Volnation because it was 99% sensationalistic clap-trap that had little to no facts to back it up. I know I let him know about it every time he linked that garbage.

It's obvious that Pearl took over a talent laden, tradition rich team, changed their style of play to up tempo and pressing, and then greatly underachieved. My recollection with the talent level and the expectations from the pundits and fans were that Tennessee was a final four caliber team his first year. He has allowed our talent base to deteriorate to such a degree that we now now must resort to a half court defense, pretty much giving up on the full court press. Pearl took over a basketball program that was close to the summit and we couldn't even get past the Elite 8 last year, five years into is UT coaching career. Houston, O'Neiil, Green, and Peterson worked hard to get UT Basketball to the level it was at before Pearl arrived. I hate it when people get on these boards and try to rewrite history to suit their own needs.

You must have meant to say, " I'm confused. I thought I was wrecking recruiting and killing the program. I wish they would make up their minds. " You have been against Bruce Pearl from the beginning. Don't start including several others into your category of negativity toward the baketball program. Very few, if any have continually voiced their dislike toward Pearl the way you have!!!!!!!
