Gruden next UT Coach??????

Paul Brown coached at Massillon high, Ohio State, Cleavland and Cincinnati and was successful. This is the only example that comes to mind. Can you give me any other example?

Coaches make the move from one level to the next without a hitch from year to year. There are different deals to each, but pretending that an upper echelon coach of Gruden's caliber couldn't make the transition to college is laughable. Worst case scenario he surrounds himself with a solid career collegiate staff and goes to work.

Spurrier, Saban, Weis, and many others disagree. There are many differences in coaching in the two leagues and being on the road recruiting is the main one. Guy thats a multimillionaire and has a SB ring isn't scratching to get back and chase 18 yr olds around the country to convince them to play for him.

Not starting a fight man, just making a point.

Coaches want a challenge. Like I have said multiple times, it's a very outside possible that he would end up here. But pretending that it would never ever happen is a bit naive.

Good coaches have success regardless the level. You can make excuses all you want, Grizz. But deep down you know the game doesn't change from level to level.

The game itself is pretty much the same but the egos, being in the spotlight, your ever move as a coach under the microscope changes tremendously from Pee Wee football to the pros. Some of the best college coaches in the biz right now failed miserably in the pros, that alone should tell you their not the same. Spurrier and Saban had won National Championships before testing the waters of the NFL and both failed. Pete Carroll failed in the NFL, came back to college and won and is now trying to crack the NFL code.

Pipe dream and you thinking it could is also naive

Like I said, no one is asking you to believe it and I don't give a **** if you do. I can promise you that there has been contact and he would and has listened.

Gene Stallings wasnt setting the NFL on fire with his 23-41-1 HC record when he took the Bama job then leading them to a 70-16-1 record.

Their are 2 reasons why his name gets mentioned here and 1 is his wife and the other is Majors gave him a chance to learn about coaching. Neither of the 2 have anything to do with him wanting to return to UT as the HC. For one Gruden comes and bombs he will never get another coaching gig and secondly it would kill his TV gig in the future and both mean loss income for him. He will stay in the pros if he ever coaches again because there are more people to blame if failed, (upper management not letting him go after the players he wants)

1. He won't bomb.
2. His wife?
3. Won't get another gig?

If you define listening and allowing someone to speak, before saying you aren't interested is contact and listening, you are correct.
There is as good of a chance of Fulmer coming to UT as Gruden.

4. You really that dumb? Yes.

1. How can you even think that is not a possibility, look what he did to Tampa.
2. Yeah you know former UT cheerleader and they own property here.
3. How many jobs has Phil had coaching since he was canned and please don't bring up his age, Spurrier is older than Phil and Saban and Miles are all around the same age.
4. How juvenile name calling I am so hurt boo hoo

There's a better chance that The Easter Bunny is the next football coach than Phil Fulmer. In fact, there's a better chance that you parachute out of a plane over Tazewell tandemed with Lane Kiffin flying back from Lexington.

Comparing Phil Failmer to Jon Gruden is laughable.

And look at what he did to Tampa?

good one. Figured it was about time for you to try a shot

it sure is laughable. Gruden has never coached a college game. Never been a coordinator either. Even Dooley has a better cfb record than JG.

What did he do at Tampa? really? He goes there and wins a SB in his 1st year. Nice. Very nice. With Dungey's players.

Then in the next 6 seasons goes 45-51.

And you seriously want to hang our hopes on him?

Compared to Derek Dooley? Everyday of the week and thrice on Sunday.

Hard to get good ones on a fabricated story. I'm working without a net here Sparty.

Yeah, I make things up all the time. You pegged me.

Being 42 and father of 3, my goal is to impress 20 somethings with tales of trips to football games. It drives me. Maybe I should have said i was on the bus or at a bar, or in that Lexus he wrecked. That would have been more believable.
I blew it.

The roster is still 2 years away from being able to compete with Bama and LSU. Other than that it has improved.

Games arent played on paper. Our offense itself is good enough to compete with anyone... Its the defense that has to prove itself.... Which it will IMO. I cannot wait till the end of this year. All you whiny ass Dooley haters wIll feel ashamed that you werent patient enough to give the man a fair ammount of time to build the program. And you call yourselves fans..?
