Guns don't kill

My father was an FBI agent in NYC during the 60's, I guess he should of fought the Mob with his leather Baton

In Ed's world that would have been just fine. The Mob would have turned in their guns.

Because cars serve no other purpose.

Ed, I've carried a gun everyday for 13 years and never has it killed anyone. Came very close on occasions, but never has it taken a life.

That same gun, along with many more, have been in my house and amongst my children. My kids know that guns are not toys. I have taught my kids to respect guns. I do not shelter them from them. They shoot guns with me, know how to safely load and handle firearms, and can probably shoot better than some officers I have worked with.

The problem with America is we always want something to blame for our own misfortunes or poor decision making.

I can place a loaded gun on a table and it could sit there a 1000 years and never harm anyone. It just takes one idiot to pick it up to change that.

You don't seem to think through your positions very much.
1. Why don't you take your crazy hypothetical on yourself and imagine living in Somalia.
2. The same people who are "pro-life" are often in favor of guns and the death penalty. "Ridiculous"

NOT OK to defend yourself with a gun?
NOT OK to kill murderers?
Is OK to kill babies?

I think the better way to express the point would be that a gun, like a car, is as dangerous as the person "driving". Be careless, negligent or malicious with either and people get maimed or killed. Millions of rounds are fired every year, just like many millions of miles are driven, and the overwhelming majority of the time all ends well. Sometimes it doesn't.

In all cases the inanimate object in question played neither the hero or the villain...it did what it was told.

Finally a thoughtful post. A gun is like a car or any other tool. However, not every tool should be legal. Everything should be weighed on its' positives and negatives. The question is whether the positives of guns (fun cool?) outweigh a couple thousand lives a year. BTW cars(because they too are dangerous) have all sorts of restrictions on them.

Restrictions? You mean brakes and lights? The last time I checked you could still plow into a group of people on a sidewalk even WITH those "restrictions". Weird.

Really? There are restrictions on who can drive, how to drive, the manufacturing of cars etc....

State your opinion Ed.

What in your opinion should be done?

I wouldn't mind limits on number of guns, mandatory gun safety classes, and the type of weapons available. Exactly where to draw the line is debatable. I would definitely ban assault rifles.

"Babies" "murderers" Must be nice living in such a world.

Normally I don't just call people names but seeings how you've resorted to it to other posters - You are as crazy as they come dude. I think the term is batsh!t crazy.

The death penalty is for murderers (you know, people who have intentionally caused someone to die). If it was up to me the death penalty would include child molesters and rapists too. Abortion kills the same as a gun and what's being killed is a human being.

No one on here is advocating using guns to kill innocent people. Yes, they are dangerous and that is why everyone keeps throwing around "respect".

The existence of people like you depresses me.

My AR-15 has never killed anyone either. I must have bought one of the tame versions

1)What does the limit do? Do you take guns away from owners that already have more than the limit?

2)I agree with your second point.

3) I do not own one, and don't discourage anyone from it. Bout all I have on that.

How many guns are too many? How do you regulate how many guns each person has?

What types should be banned? Handguns? Shotguns? Hunting rifles?

The existence of people as thoughtless as you depresses me. Only guilty people are ever convicted? Your incredible powers of determining precisely the moment cells become life is incredible. May I ask at what point it is? Conception or day 24.5?

The limit would mostly inhibit gangs or wackos. I think it's pretty reasonable. What does anyone need 50 guns for? Whether you take guns away or grandfather existing gun-owners, I'm not sure. Either one I guess.

Those are the questions we should be asking. You could regulate how many guns someone buys easily. Painkillers are legal, but owning a certain amount is not.

Because it's my constitutional right?

You do realize most of the gun/crime issues we face come through the unregulated black market, right?

Eureka you're on to something. Just the other day I was doing 125 in a 35 zone, and I didn't hit one person. I must have bought one of the tamer cars.

I think you are not giving enough weight to the resolve of the criminals that look to obtain them.

Im not sure a limit on law abiding citizens would change that situation much.

Yep, those law abiding gang members arent going to get them from Mexico and use them or sell them for more profit.

Yep, they dont sell dope because its against the law either.

Banning them will only turn law-abidding citizens like me, into criminals. The SOB that tries to take my guns will have hell to pay. No lie!!
