Halzle on Nico, per Wes Rucker

QB certainly isn't the only thing that has changed in that period.
Look at Milton in the last 2 games of last season - that's what Milton does with the same support as Hooker.
Milton had a bad game against Vandy. Around 50% completion and under 150 yards passing. He played better against Clemson, but our defense won that game. Offense had 13 drives, five were 3 and outs, and one was 4 and out. That is basically 50% of our drives ending in 3 & outs.

Nothing to see here. What else is he going to say? Joe gets another few games (with Cooper back) to show improvement.
that was exactly my thought... whether he is or not, what is he supposed to say. He has to publicly back the quarterback right now. What goes on and is said/done behind the scenes may be different

This is him saying that Milton is the starter going forward. Hazel is in over his head and was awarded the OC job because of his loyalty to Heupel over the years. I would like to know who is calling the plays, Heupel or Hazel? If Heupel is letting the OC calls the plays then it was obvious that Golesh was the head and shoulders above Hazel.

this man thrilled his team going 4-8 instead of 3-9

I think UF will get to 6-7 wins. 2 already, Charlotte and Vandy should get them to 4, then need to win some combination of KY, MO, Arky, SC to get to 6-7 wins. Having beaten TN, I think FL is capable of beating all four of them as I think TN is pretty damn good.

Then if you can surprise a LSU, GA or FSU, even better.

Well he is not wrong..... Milton graded the highest of any player this past weekend. People really hate the guy so much that they will overlook the defense giving up a million 3rd and longs in the first half.
I think I saw I a whopping 16 points put on the board last Saturday < and seven of those were on our first drive. Let’s ,see, that is, 9 points in 3 and 2/3 Quarters. I am not one of those who is saying throw Nico into the fire now,, but something has to be done to get some points on the scoreboard.

I think Joe is an adequate qb, I have a problem with his ability to make the proper
decision on the RPO. He doesn't seem to adequately perceive when to hand off
the ball and when to pull it back out, resulting in tfl too often. He doesn't run
the ball as much as he should, especially with his frame.

We lost the game due to primarily the defense. Plain and simple.
Of course the penalties played a large part in it as well.
Well they need to flat out tell Joe when the run is there to run instead of trying to force a throw. I don’t want a quarterback that is scared to run especially when he is capable and weighs darn near 250. Joe is not the entire problem but he needs to show more fire, he can help the O-Line by having better pocket presence and making decisions faster. That goes for getting the calls in quicker and into our plays quicker instead of the clock darn near hitting 0 before we snap the ball. And good grief on 3 or 4th with inches to go we shouldn’t need but 1 dadgum play and that is for Milton to get his 250 pound body behind the center and quarterback sneak that joker every time. Why in Haiti do we need to be in shotgun on 3rd or 4th down and inches. No excuse to make getting inches that darn. Difficult. Sneak it every time! GBO

I think people got sold a bill of goods about Billy and this years team by a bunch of sports media types, but I always figured we'd be better than that. Not saying we don't drop a clunker here at some point, totally possible, but the defense under AA has played great since after the first play of the Utah game, and if we can maintain that discipline on defense and physicality on offense, this is a 9 win or so team. Billy needs to still bring in someone to help that passing game next year, like a Joe Brady type.

I'm just saying. Most here have never tried to complete a pass with a 350lb monster wanting to kill you...most opinions here stem from freaking video game QBs with actual experience limited to pop warner.....he hurried the throw...ever seen a pitcher hurry a pitch...usually low...does he need to do better absolutely... But he wasn't terrible
True, most haven't, but nobody is comparing ourselves to him. We are comparing the other D-I quarterbacks who have completed a pass while under pressure and having to move outside the pocket. Mertz didn't seem to have that many issues throwing on the run. You do realize that Milton literally has never completed a single pass at Michigan or in his starts here, where he had to move outside the pocket. That is a piece of information that any halfway competent staff in the country exploits very easily. Send pressure up the middle, and we lose the play. It is really that simple. He can't move and throw. Our offensive line is bad, especially at LG and C, so this exacerbates the issue. I like JM. He seems like a good guy, and he is not the entire issue. I never claimed he was. He certainly is an issue that we cannot fix and that Heupel has to do a better job of working with. His solution seems to be have him throw as quickly as possible.
We have a litany of issues. Our WR don't get separation. Our RBs are tackled by lines. Our OL is the worst it has been in several years, and our defense is dreadful. Go back and watch the game from a defensive perspective, and we were incredibly bad. Our scheme is confusing and terrible. We do not know what to do with movement. I can go on for hours. Three different seasons of not being able to throw on the move is not just one throw. We can replace him, and we probably will only be minimally better. Nico probably isn't ready, and the supporting cast around him surely isn't. We are paying for years of poor recruiting and Heupel being handcuffed by scholarship restrictions. We were gifted with some phenomenal results last season, but this is still a rebuild. Joe is just a placeholder. Nothing more. He never was.

This doesn't make us feel any better. I don't understand it but we forget how to play football when we visit the swamp.

Unless you're loaded with georgia/bama-type talent, one key to having a good college offense is having a mobile QB who can make
plays with his legs occasionally, as Hooker did. Most of the national champs in the last 20 years have had mobile QBs.

We're not going to be as good offensively this year--we've already seen that--and might as well accept it.

?Joe’s been ok, the whole offense has been underperforming, when it gets better so will Joe “

Or something similar that doesn’t make him seem like an idiot

Yeah I’m sure giving up 7/8 3rd downs by the defense and allowing Florida to run all over them and melt the clock was Milton’s fault too?

Joe needs to run hard at least 5 to 10 times a game. That would open up this offense more than any single change

Man i thought he was on that 2nd down play where Keyton got mugged in the end zone to no call. Milton legit had 15-20 yards easy
