First chance to check in all day, and I find y'all going at it over...
well I'm not sure really.

Guess it's just a slow day here at the BigOrange Ranch.
Sorry to interrupt, carry on...

BTW... HateVol?.... That's a little harsh isn't it? Hat's on our side ya' know.
Tough on folks sometimes, but still one of the good guys.

You may want to debate him being stand up but you have nothing to show otherwise.

Man you just hit the nail on the head. It always comes back to '98 for the Fulmer lovers. Do you realize that if he had molested a 13 year-old in 1998 the staute of limitations would have already run for prosecution? Let's try to quit living in the past.

10 REGULAR SEASON WINS IN 2006 OR FIRE FULMER!!!!

I can only imagine how badly Pearl will be blasted here in due time..amazing.

He's already been questioned because of the past couple of losses and he "costed" us the UK game by his sub-par coaching skills. :disappointed: Amazing isn't it.

And to think I was excited that spring practice started until I realized that meant even more of the fire-Fulmer crowd would pop up like dandelions in the front yard. Can't seem to kill the damn things. :D

It is a jab at his "hate" on the football program not at him.

It is a sad, sad day when a Gator posts smarter than a "VOL" fan.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. NC is practically a Vol...he's just having a hard time accepting it.

But can we truly trust a Gator convert?

Hat, those were terrible examples if you're trying to discredit Fulmer. You're talking about two of the most self centered and disruptive players to ever wear a UT jersey(Pickens and washington). I'm not talking about their play, they were all great players. But washington in particular was like a cancer to our team his second year.
By the way, do you take any kind of pleasure from UT football? I'm not trying to trash you in any way, it's an honest question. You seem to be negative towards anything involving the football team. I'm not questioning your status as a UT fan, I think its our duty to question the coaching staff after a season like last year and believe me I've had my doubts and I don't believe everything Fulmer does is right. But I take genuine pleasure in UT football, always have and always will. You on the other act as if UT football is some kind of thorn in your side.
Was Washington's attitude the reason he, Clausen, and about half the starters on that team got injured? Washington gets blamed for that season because he wasn't the "Golly gee, aw shucks" humble gomer type that most UT fans seem to revere. That team collapsed because of injuries and 5 first half fumbles against Florida in the rain, not Kelly's attitude.

I do enjoy Vol football. I occasionally let my absolute disdain for the head coach color my comments about the program as a whole.

I'm right there with you. Not neccesarily with the disdain for the coach but a disdain for the numerous inadequacies that came to a head last season. If I had joined this message board during the season instead of mid-January I would seem more like a pessimistic Fulmer hater than I do now. If we have another season like last year then I'll probably be calling for Fulmer's head louder than anyone(except for you of course :birgits_giggle:).

Time for Fulmer & Staff to get Real or get out.

No more wimpy play, no more wimpy plays, no more wimpy gameplans, no more wimpy preparation & no more wimpy COACHING!

from Jason The facts are:
He is a very good coach (Yes, but not as good as Tubberville, Saban, Spurrier, and Richt apparently. Even Mike Shula has beaten him.)
He is a very good recruiter. (Can't argue with that. But wins and championships are what matters.)
He is a stand up guy with character. (That is highly debateable. )
He was too loyal (if that is a bad thing) to some of his staff trying to give them a chance and believing in them. (It is a bad thing when you have obvious problems with an offense and wait until you go 5-6 before addressing them)
He is boring as an interview
He believes in his players and tries to give them every opportunity (maybe too many at times)
He is respected and if we fired him we would be laughed at harder than Ole Miss was about Cut. (Respected by whom? UGA, UF, UA, Auburn, LSU fans? What about Clemson, Maryland, Nebraska fans?)
He is not going to be fired and his job was not in jeopardy at all

Of those coaches you named how many of them have more National Championships than CPF? I'll give you a hint ZERO! I ask you what Fulmer's record is against these guys? Saban and Spurrier have won NC's. Tubberville went undefeated. Fulmer did have the stars align and won one with a roster that could have been an NFL team. Does winning that one 7 years ago mean that he can cruise the rest of the way?

You may want to debate him being stand up but you have nothing to show otherwise. Yeah, he tucks tail and hides when he thinks he might face some tough questions at SEC media days. Real standup guy. Let's not even mention the other "standup" stuff that the guy has done.

I can accept that he did give his staff a little too much time. But like I said he is a stand up guy and believes in people. You say believes in people, I say cronyism. Companies go out of business because they "believe in people".

So if SEC fans don't respect CPF he is not respected? That is too funny. Well, then who does respect him? The national media? The SEC media? National fans? Oh yeah, I forgot those people hate UT and that is why they disrespect Fulmer. Of course the same people are singing Bruce Pearl's praises. Weird, huh?

Is there anything more predictable than a thread about Phillip Fulmer?

At media day he probably would have been served 30 subpoenas by some bammer ambulance chasers out to make a name for themselves. That could have disrupted the season even more.

Next, watch it before you personally attack Fulmer. A few months ago my mom was in the hospital getting a brain tumor removed in Memphis. My step-father was picking me up at the airport and we saw CPF boarding a plane for a recruiting trip. We went to talk to him and the subject of why we were at the airport came up. He stepped out of line and called my mother to wish her a speedy recovery and thanked her for being a fan. He spoke with her for only a couple of minutes but you couldn't wipe the smile off her face (and this was 1 day before the surgery). She told every nurse @ Methodist about it too!

What happens on the field can be fair game but you will always have me to fight with when taking personal shots at the man.

What, if he was served a subpoena we would have gone 3-8?

Great story. Met my wife in the Memphis Methodist Hospital (a nurse there). Our first child born there.
Our thoughts and prayers our with your mom in her recovery.
