We easily out talented USC with who was available that night. And it wasn't really close.

Florida totaled half the yards of LSU. LSU had critical turnovers, were playing without their healthy playmaking RB, and still could have won with a score from 1st and goal inside the 5. It was a good win for Florida, but they lose that game 9 out of 10 times. They had luck on their side.

Again, you didn't watch the game. They didn't get a first down in the second half until we went into prevent defense. The reason we only won by 10 is because our defense gave up 21 in the first half. They led 21-3 at halftime. Then we scored 35 in the second half. They were demoralized because they were getting whipped. You'd know that if you actually watched. Go back to FF, be good for you over there.

It had nothing to do with them going away from what got them there right? Calloway had over 100 and Tennessee had no answer. Florida got cute and pulled a Tennessee and Tennessee finally took advantage lets not look through one set of glasses here.

You know they didn't quit if you watched the game.

Good grief you really didnt watch the game! You must be a fan of someone else, Bama fan maybe. I don't know. But clearly you don't know what you're talking about 😂. Calloway had 100 because of 3 deep balls in the first half. We had no answer? Lol, we answered with Derek Barnett dominating the OL in the second half. Appleby didn't have time to throw to him because the DL took over. That was the difference in the game, that and our offense started executing. You think they went conservative? Haha, were they conservative when we were only down 11? How about when we were only down 4? What about when we took the lead on the bomb to JJ? Or when we extended the lead on the slant to malone? Or the Dobbs run in late? Haha. They didn't get conservative, our DL took the game over and they couldn't do anything until we went into prevent D. But you didn't even watch so you wouldn't know that.

They did it was obvious they went run first when they thought they had the game won. Only when they were down and needed points they passed the ball again and scored. You'd know if you watched.

But back to your point they quit but lost by only 10.

its speculation at this point and time, he has had good classes even top five classes, so im not going to say he CANT do it again, i dont know if i think he will, but its all TBD.....waste of time to speculate on down the road recruiting, win and that cures all....

In all honesty I can't really say. Won't really know until his tenure ends. Anything else is just guessing. As for me personally tho I wish him great success I'm just getting too old to go thru another coaching carousel.

Hopefully he will win. If he wins this year the 2018 class could be great. Guess we'll have to see

Butch dictates his OWN future going into 2017...........if he wins 9+ games (including the East) then he gets good recruits to come, but if not, then EVERYBODY jumps ship including all Tennessee high school coaches........... He has ZERO excuses as he has at least a 2 yr jump on every coach in the EAST as far as recruiting; he has ALL of his OWN players now...........2017 Slogan: NO EXCUSES - NO CLICHEs - Just WIN !!!

That game was an aberration. If we play that game 9 times out of 10 it isn't close. Heck just look at Clemson. Should they have lost to Pitt? A team that they out talented? Should they have had as many close games as they did? You cant use the ACC vs SEC argument because they beat Bama and would have beaten every other SEC team like a drum.

I don't believe that the talent is capped. CBJ has always worked recruiting as hard or harder that most other coaches. He has also upgraded the assistant coaches with ones that recruit at a high level. Now that the roster is much deeper than when he came to the Vols, it's no longer possible to sell immediate playing time like before. While the win/loss record has opened the door to negative recruiting, most recruits know last year's injury situation and understand it's impact. I look for 2018 to be a strong class. I think our totals of 4* recruits will be much higher next year.

There's a big difference in being ultra negative and seeing it for what it is. I really don't see it as being negative if I don't believe 121 will be better than 120. I don't see it as being negative if I don't believe Jones can get Tennessee back where Tennessee belongs. It is what it is and in the end if I posted about how Tennessee will be better and Jones can get us where we need to be I'd be lying to myself.

Newt, realistically with everything that you know do you expect them to be better nxt year?

Honest question and it's open to others...

Honest question.. are you this pessimistic about everything else in life as your are about UT football? If so, I really feel sorry for you. You aren't "seeing it as it is." You are seeing it how you want to see it.

I don't want them to fail at all but I won't say we'll be better nxt season with all the ? Tennessee has right now.
It's not negative to be negative at all it's simply looking at what Tennessee has returning and putting it up against what teams in the same boat did last season.

Jones and Co are the X factors in the equation.

Do i think there will be improvememt? Yes. With the d on track this offense will do what it needs to do. I can honestly see a 10 win season. Sure it could be 7 but why assume it so? CBJ has a make or break year im rooting for him because its good for everybody including the knee jerk fans.
