HBO's "Game of Thrones"

The hound is dead, Qyburn is dead, Varys. Two of those characters have been present the entire way.

I can get over alot of last nights episode but I cant get over the nut punch on Cersei and Jamie. That will forever make me hate a part of GOT.
That is the one that hurt, for me. My favorite character was Jaime-- great actor, incredible arc. Was not what I wanted.

S8 apologists are running out of steam and excuses. Even the casual Twitter viewers are starting to turn on the show. This season has been a flop from a writing perspective. It's a visual spectacle and last night's episode was entertaining as hell, but nearly everything feels undercooked and contrived, even if the plot pieces are technically there for things to happen as written.

I thought they did a really good job last night showing that there are no winners in war. The shots of the lady and little girl (along with Arya) were very well done.
Agreed, I've thought that about all the battle scenes shown in the series. BoTB and the fall of Kings Landing particularly stand out.

I don't know if you've seen it, but I got a very strong "Children of Men" vibe from the fleeing scenes last night.

I can't disagree... although I didn't hate last night's episode as much as everyone else seems to. I do hate what they did with Jamie (assuming that was the end). They took a rich character with great depth away from the path of redemption and back into Cersei's arms. "Contrived" is a good word to describe how events are unfolding and that will happen when a series, which for the first 5 seasons was slow and deliberately paced, is then rushed into a conclusion while also working without the original source material.

It seems like more people are upset with how we got there instead of where we are at.

Why did they go with 13 episodes to wrap up? Was that an HBO thing?

Emilia Clarke has gotten fair criticism for her acting chops sometimes but I think the last two episodes she’s been fantastic
I have always thought she was very good but last night I wanted to see more of her facial expressions and feel what she was experiencing while laying waste to an entire city. That's not her fault though. The director was in love with the CGI and couldn't put it away.

If they stuck with the books, I think dragons can only have one rider. If so, nobody is riding him. Or maybe it's one rider at a time. I'd have to re-read the books again, but the one rider thing was in there.
As addressed in the extra books "a world of ice & fire" & "fire & blood" dragons can have multiple riders in their lives, but only bond with one at a time. Also a rider can only bond with/ rider one living dragon. That's why Dany only ever rode drogon. Belarion the dread (Aegon 1) was almost 300 years old at the conquest. At least 3 successors to Aegon also claimed him as a mount before he died of old age.

I get that and hoping we see that next week.

The directors said they wanted people to see what happens during war from a civilian POV, which I think made the attack so much more powerful/shocking. Which is why they had so much of it happen in the streets.

HBO crashed on me right when the Hound confronted Cersei on the steps....like..all my ATT HBO channels just stopped. So..besides not seeing the inevitable deaths, I thought the violence in this episode was top notch ultra violence. The fight scenes were brutal.

it would have added a color to my rainbow if Sandor just sliced Cerseis head off as she was trying to sneak by. Just swing and boop. Done.
I expected the opposite. I expected her to knife him in the back as she walked past and his attention was on the mountain.

Another issue I had: Cersei saying the red keep gas never fallen. Her VERY OWN FATHER SACKED KINGS LANDING AGAINST THE ATTACKERS FATHER! Am I missing something?

Missing Jaime killing the Mad King. Which would have opened the Red Keep since he was part of the Kingsguard.

The Red Keep is a separate portion of KL. Like a castle within the city walls.
