HBO's True Detective

So I finally finished this up last night; fantastic show and dethrones The Wire as best cop drama ever made.

The ending had to happen and I had mixed feelings about how it went down. Carcosa was done really well, but I couldn't stop thinking about how many people referred to it throughout the season like some cultish utopia and it turning how to basically look like haunted ruins. Then again, most of those references came from 1995, so I guess it makes sense that it's "glory days" were long gone.

I wish they spent time developing the killer more; we barely get to know this character and he does/says so many random and arbitrary things that I felt more confused about who and what he was than before he reveals himself.

The final confrontation seemed a little unrealistic; like this dude was super human or something.

All that was forgivable though when MM delivered one of the greatest and emotional monologues I've ever seen. Gut wrenching stuff. They ended on a high note - which was perfect, IMO.

The season 2 actors better bring their A games - this is a tough act to follow, for sure.

It is hard as hell for me to get my wife to get into a show. This one right here got her attention though. She's a huge MM fan so that was my selling point lol. I like him a lot too, I think he's a great actor. 8 episodes was not enough IMO though. It took me 3-4 episodes to really get drawn in, and at that point the season was at the half way point.

She is really disappointed that MM and WH won't be in the new season but hopefully it draws her attention like the first season did. I like Vince Vaughn a lot though, so I think it should.

Game of thrones will be off by then, but I plan on keeping HBO for this and to also watch The Sopranos, The Wire, and Boardwalk Empire for the first time. I'll have a full schedule this summer for shows to watch.

Heard it's a lot more of a cop noir show this time around and doesn't have any of the mythical/voodoo aspects, which isn't a bad thing to me.

It has me thinking something like The Departed to an extent.

I like it so far. Glad to see they are merging all 4 of their stories.

Is it possible for Rachel McAdams to not be hot?
