Hello everyone it's time once again to play everyone's favorite game show, RATE THIS CLASS!

I rate it as incomplete.. We can all praise or criticize in Feb when it's done. Need a LB or two IMO. A impact edge rusher would have been nice too.

A lot of these in-state kids will listen to the Vols if they’re shown some love early. If we slow play and ignore them then they won’t.

These kids are leaving the state for Clemson, LSU, Ohio State, UGA, and even Oregon. It’s not like they’re going to LA Tech and Ball State. It just seems like missed opportunities for us which hurt us long term with the high school. We’re allowing pipelines to our rivals.
that goes both ways a lot of those so called top prospects wouldn't even come TN to visit and camp. like it was insulting to be asked to camp or something. of those bigger names that we could have probably gotten, wilhoite, washington, knox and that other db from ensworth, only Knox came and camped.

it's simply not all on UT as to why they didn't wind up here. but they weren't as sold on some of hte in state talent as some here were, and believe they got better prospects elsewhere. Maurice Hampton and Bill Norton are the two we pushed for that were committed elsewhere, that remained committed elsewhere. and we're gonna get Eric Gray.

the opposite i think its true for the 20 class. there will be a big emphasis there, already is.

i just wouldn't read to much in to the In state from this past year. lots of stuff behind the scenes, other than "he missed".

7th in SEC / 3rd in East is definitely in the C range.
and that's fine. like i said, comging off 9-15 the past two years, and getting some of the guys we did at the top of hte class is really good.

i think we mismanaged some other spots, that could have been a lot better...WR nad DL specifically.

still have 2 5* and the #1 back in TN on the table.

i like this class b/c of the needs it fills at OL and DB. it could have been a lot better at DL, LB and WR.

will have anywhere from 8-10 more kids added to this class depending on what happens with our 3 unsigned committments, and if they stick or not.

it's not going to get an a+ for top 5-9 type class. it could totally still get a solid B. this isn't the class that gets you to championship contention. it is the type of class that gets it started in that direction.

You seem savvy with recruiting. Any idea how Bama has 26 commits? I thought maximum is 25.

With the signees we have 93 on scholarship so we have to find a way to trim that by 8 not including the players that will sign in February. So expect to see several more guys transferring or quitting football.

because.............bama. duh. :)

don't know the actual details, but they likely have some hardship that allows them to back count or they are blueshirting for the next class. dunno which one.

we have the same option, with two medical hardships, we have some options to free up a spot or two, either now or later. we could potentially wind up with 27 or 28 in this class, if they want to get real creative. i think we wind up with 25 or 26.

edit: price just on swain saying he doesn't think we get all that creative, and hte class sticks to the 25#

This takes into account the players graduating / at end of eligibility?

When the VN Hall of Fame is built, someone please make sure i am honored for holding
the record for winning a box of Jiffy via bet on VN the quickest. TIA

Funny. But trying to wipe history clean is as silly as trying to blame Lyle for everything. It took the continued mismanagement by a group of people, including Lyle, to drive the program to its current state. Sorry. Those are facts.

That said, it’s on Pruitt to fix it. I’m not exactly blown away by any aspect of his tenure so far including recruiting. For me, I’m hopeful but the jury is definitely still out.

i think you answered your own question in the first part of this post. the state of the program isn't great. and hasn't been for 3 years.

that plays a part in the recruiting, no matter how good a recruiter CJP is. and i would tell you there are things they probably learned this cycle that htey need to improve upon. it didn't go as well as it could have probably. and he knows it.

If you’re giving a B grade you must be counting Wright and Crouch already. I hope we get those guys but it’s not a sure thing.

Something like 75% of recruits are expected to sign this week. The remaining 25% get a hyper focus from coaches at all schools between now and Feb. The full court press will be on for just the 3* players. Imagine the intensity for blue chippers.

just keep in mind there are some unsigned early enrollees out there as well, like Crouch, that wont' be "re recruited". they'll be on a campus somewhere by the time the programs start recruiting again to finish their classes.

i think for that reason, Crouch is probably a safer bet. he's going to be at Clemson or UT the week after the all star game. and all signs point to the good guys. but, it is a ? unti it's not, granted.

Wright on the other hand isn't signing til Feb, and will take other visits, so while things look good and have looked good for us, there's always a chance something changes, especially since every school in the country can use a 5* OT, and he's available until he's not. still feel good about him. but if you want to worry, he's the one i'd worry about.

Doesn't seem to be able to close the deal with the elite recruits(or coaches for that matter). C-

wanya morris, eric gray (in about 45 min), jalen mcollough, ramel keyton, jackson lowe, jackson lampley and Tyus Fields all disagree.

lol.

now if you meant to say "fails to close ALL elite recruits", ok, i'll give you that.

A horrible coaching job? Well! Ask 3 year Kirby Smart how horrible of a coaching job he did with Fields, the fake field goal against LSU, and the 4 down and eleven fake field goal against Bama.🤫😂🤔🔥😃🙃🤣

I'm gonna step out on the ledge and say most UGA fans wouldn't trade places with us Vol fans right now.

With Gray I feel decent about the offensive recruiting. However, DL and LB still suck. Need some more help here.

no, they wouldn't, but all things being relative, to say they're "happy" with all things kriby smart would be erroneous. lol.

not saying they shouldn't be or should be. but there's some good 'ol rantin' going on (or there was anyway) on their boards the other day.

To get into the top ten ? Averaged about 3.5 for the first 20. Tall order to average 4.3 for the remaining six. An average slightly about 3.5 is more likely. Has anyone officially from UT stated how many recruits we expect to sign for this class ?

BOOOOOOOOOOMMMM!!! One down; five more to go.

Bag by Bag.
