Hey, I Might NOT Be Dying

I can't say I've never drank, but after thorough questioning from a few different doctors, they all agreed I didn't drink enough for it to be the direct cause. Could it have contributed? Possibly, but after looking at family history, they think that played a bigger role than anything. My dad had fatty liver that became cirrhosis, which in turn became cancer. My mom has fatty liver but luckily, it has remained that and not become cirrhosis. I was told years ago I had fatty liver, so I knew about that, but unfortunately, it became cirrhosis.

I'm just glad you got help man. Are there any risks of the new liver having issues in the future, since it's genetic?

Well, this thread has just become my all time favorite thread in VN. I hope that the recovery continues, Weezer and I will definitely sling my share of good thoughts and prayers to you every day. Take care and all the best.

Well, there's always risk of rejecting the organ. I'll be on anti-rejection drugs the rest of my life. I'll have periodic bloodwork to check the balance of those drugs in my body to make sure I maintain a proper balance.

And, according to my doctor, a reoccurrence of cirrhosis is a possibility, but less likely if I adjust my diet and such.

Praying it stays good!

Keep up the recovery Weez. Best of luck for a healthy future. Are you back to llama status?

<sigh> Still stuck in Nashville. The past two weeks I've had to go to the hospital for blood transfusions as my blood count keeps dropping. I have no obvious signs of bleeding, so they're still trying to figure out what's going on. My blood pressure has skyrocketed, which they say might be because of my meds, so they're keeping an eye on that as well. Ready to be better and get home to Knoxville.

What kind of meds ? They are likely right about that causing the high BP -- also a broken blood vessel, say in your stomach for ex, could be cause of blood loss - your stool would be black and loose -- my dad had that and didnt say anything about it until it was almost too late

Similar thing happened to a buddy of mine. Bleeding ulcer.

I need pain meds. Hurting bad tonight. Keeping me up.

Haven't slept all night. Been having muscle spasms over every inch of my body. Could be a reaction to a new med I took yesterday. Feeling miserable atm. Sleep would help.

Took an oxy to try and ease the pain. Zero effect.

Gonna have to have a procedure in the next few weeks to fix a splenic aneurysm.

My RBC continues to run low, and now my WBC has dropped to around one. Apparently my spleen (which was effected by the cirrhosis) is slow to recover. Damn thing needs to do its job.

Sorry to hear that! I will continue to pray that you get stronger and get out of there

Spent last night in the hospital, doped up on pain meds. Pain got so bad I started getting sick to my stomach. Doctors fairly certain it was because of the Neupogen shot I had to raise my white blood cell count, which sucks because I might need another one. Well, at least now they know how I react to it so if I do need another, they can have the pain meds ready.
