This was a done deal last December.
If he doesn't want to play its absolutely, perfectly fine with me, Warlick said. Im not going to beg somebody to play us, especially not UConn.
âNo big dealâ for Holly Warlick if Geno Auriemma, UConn donât want to play - GoVolsXtra Story
I don't think anyone wants this game except ESPN and some UCONN fans. It would really spike ESPN's rankings.
If you've ever perused the Boneyard, we mentioned often regarding coaching and game play. Always critical, too.
This is a rare thread because it's usually UCONN trolls who start these types. Smallvol isn't, by the way.
Didn't Pat have down years in recruiting too? When we essential have what amounts to three number one recruits and most of the rest being top 20 recruits, how can one possibly complain about recruiting. From top to bottom, Tennessee easily has the most talented roster of any other team out there. Add a healthy tucker to the mix and it's not even a question...holly will win back a lot of naysayers this year I believe
As far as the uconn question goes, I think that game is better suited as a tournament matchup. I think the ratings would be huge either way, but a final four or nc championship game with them would bring all kinds of media attention to the sport. I also agree with holly on refusing any kind of apology.
Isn't this all old news? The demand for a Maya apology was last year. Holly really needs to drop this, Geno is just playing her for a fool (which is how he treats people that can do nothing for him), and she needs to tell ESPN to please drop it also. God this dead horse will never die. Maybe Geno will get some serious disease and retire. Please.
It's comments like this that stoke the fire.
UCONN is the one that really needs UT to resume the series again. Yes UCONN has won many national titles recently, but during the whole regular season UCONN plays absolutely no one (Notre Dame being the exception) that puts UCONN in a good game during January and February. Who wants to watch UCONN vs. Tulsa or UCONN vs. Tulane? Now ESPN does show UCONN as much as possible due to the close proximity to the campus but there are several SEC battles that would draw more national attention than the losers UCONN plays during the regular season. I say lets move on. We don't play Louisiana Tech or Delta State much these days either.
Personally, I think Geno retires once his current agreement is up. I don't see him signing another long term contract. I think this one is up in 2017, but I could be wrong.
