Holly vs Uconn

I don't feel like getting into how this got back to the staff at the time and how people were talking in Gwinnett County, Georgia, who have resided there for years and who I doubt even roots for Tennessee. .......

Sounds more like Harper Valley. LOL

Unless I'm mistaken, the Moore's moved to Georgia from St Louis. So there is no one in Ga. who really knew much about them.

Lol! I wonder why Candace Parker got benched when Katherine Moore flew in to the Olympics to watch her daughter play? Yet who came off the bench and took over the game and the US won.

Oh yeah, I remember the comments on the Summitt during the Olympics. The facts are that Parker refused to play the 5, wanting the 4 which was being played by Catchings. So she sat. But then, Geno played her extensively in the gold medal game. How does that jive with your vendetta argument? And as it turned out, Parker, right after the Olympics went back to LA, declared herself injured, and sat the rest of the WNBA season. Could it possibly be that her limited minutes in the Olympics were due to injury rather than some imagined vendetta from Geno? No, that would be crazy now, wouldn't it. Better to believe that a HOF coach is just so petty that he would pull a stunt like you suggest and the rest of the team, including former LV's would keep quiet and never say a word? You decided long ago that Geno was some sort of devil and ever since have seen everything through those lenses.

You really think that people didn't know a star player like Maya Moore that lived in the area? How deceive you are to actually believe that. She was well known in that area and people knew there living situations.

Secondly, I never said Mrs. Moore was a welfare case or couldn't improve herself or her family financially. These arguments started from a post referring to Geno wanting an apology to the Moore's. When you all of sudden are able to fly around the country constantly and right after Maya left high school, but was just in low income housing, eyebrows will be raised regardless. To be honest, I really don't care. I don't pay the Moore's bill and they don't pay mine. I like Maya Moore and think she is an excellent player. I'm just stating why the Tennessee staff and fans refuses to apologize. You keep shouting where's the proof? Where the proof that this couldn't possibly happen at all? You act like there is no possible way this could of happened and the tracks be covered There is more to the story, I REFUSE TO ELABORATE. This issue is NOT important to me. I have nothing to gain. I was just stating why Tennessee will NOT apologize. Believe what you want. You can keep believing Tennessee was just jealous of UConn. We had beat UConn two or three times in a row. Like I said not all of UConn and Tennessee fans hate each other. You'll be surprise. Now you can copy and paste this back to The Boneyard. Peace!

The Thread that wouldn't die.....

Guys it doesn't matter to any of us anymore if the two teams play each other again. Both squads are fine so the hell with all of this.

"Where the proof that this couldn't possibly happen at all?"

Since when does a person have to prove their innocence to speculative accusations? It's the people making the charges that need to provide the proof.

I don't have any first hand knowledge of what happened. I do know that Mrs Moore's handbag business is and was perfectly within the NCAA rules and how much money she made from it is her business. I've been asking LV fans for some hard evidence of rules violations and all I get is "she must have done something wrong" or "if Pat says it it must be true". I understand how that seems to be enough for some LV fans but it isn't for the rest of us.

When someone publicly accuses another of being a cheat and then refuses to state why or offer any real evidence I question their integrity and their character. I don't care who they are. You seem to think that Pat's word is enough. I don't. Let's just leave it there.

If you don't like what the concensus on this board think and believe, leave here period.

I don't think anyone on this board owes you anything.

Coach Summitt made the decision to DC the series for A reason. We accept that. Since you don't, it's only going to add to your frustration to hang around here.

But of course these comments don't....

“I really don’t give two (rips) if we ever play them again, to be honest with you. That game doesn’t mean anything to me. It might mean a lot to them. It might mean a lot to a lot of people. And those people are getting less and less each year.”
“if it never happens I could care less. I could care less. And I’m not going to bend over backwards to make it happen either.”
“I asked him if he wanted to play,” Warlick told the News-Sentinel. “He said he would if I apologized to his fans, former players, Maya Moore, her mother. I’m not going to do that.”

Playing UConn will reveal nothing that isn't already known. If the LV basketball team cannot beat Maryland, or Notre Dame, or USC - all teams that were soundly beaten by UConn - then there is no reason to expect to learn anything by playing Uconn. Geno doesn't want the game and Holly doesn't want it. I am fine with that.

Don't forget that UConn beat Texass by only 51 in the dance...51.

What others believe and say here is their business. If others choose to accept anything Pat said without question that's their right. I simply disagree. Isn't one purpose of these boards to air opinions? Like I said, I come here to keep up on LV news and make a post about them when I have an opinion, and not to talk about UConn. But when a LV fan posts a comment about UConn I will respond if I disagree. I'm not trying to change minds, just inject a different POV.

If you expect an unbiased message board here, you are lost.

If you come on this board questioning Pat Summitt's motives for anything, you have picked a fight. Prepare to lose.

If you are trying to win us over and convince the board that a Geno Aurienema-led program is beyond reproach, you are delusional.

There are other means to "keep up on LV news". Try Google.

gated community... hahaha thats funny. people seem to get the Fairfield/Greenwich mixed up with the Windham county (UConn area). 2 different worlds

so ESPN wanted the teams to play a regular season game again ?as we all know they just want this for TV ratings, which is what they do

CHW said yes

what's his name said no,
at the last moment ?

evidently what's his name is afraid to play the Lady Vols during the regular season

it would mess up that fine record of playing not many really good teams,I think that is the reason why

I'm just glad that CHW is willing to play anybody and not hide and save the team for Tournament play

Good for CHW saying bring it on,we will play them

I haven't had a good laugh like that in a while.... thanks for that. It is real simple, win enough games to get to the Final Four and you should get the chance to play UCONN.

Reno, I don't think there will be an issue with us getting a final four this year, but on the other hand, losing a clutch three point ace in KML is huge..didn't she and Stewart account for over 60 percent of uconns offense last year?? could be a much tougher road to a nc for uconn this year than in recent years.

Here are the numbers. uconn averaged 89 ppg last season.
Stewart 17.1 ppg. KML 14.9 ppg. So 32 of 89 = 36%
But I agree, it won't be easy to replace KML.

I would like to see the NCAA put more emphasis on strength of schedule, not how many games you have won

but that probably won't happen

As good as KML was behind the arc, she only accounted for about 16% of UCONN's scoring. UCONN spreads the scoring around pretty well with all five starters averaging double figures. Stewart is coming back as well as Nancy Lieberman award winner Moriah Jefferson. UCONN will be stacked next season and may arguable have there best team ever. It may be a tougher road to an NC. There are a lot of solid teams from last season that are returning a lot of their lineup so it will be fun to see what happens. If TENN stays injury free, they should make the FF next year.

Not quite sure how that would work with the disparity in conferences. The AAC(UCONN's conference) only has one other strong team, USF. The rest are fair or weak in WBB. I know most UCONN fans would love to see the WBB program in a better conference, but since football drives the conference selections, that's not going to happen any time soon. Until something better is developed I guess we will just have to watch the NCAA Tourney.

3 point threats don't have to have a huge scoring average to have a huge impact on defenses. Just being a threat will open up the middle for others to score.

Last year Tenn started 3 seniors, a junior and a sophomore. About 50% of their offense graduated.

UConn started 1 senior, 2 juniors, a sophomore and a freshman. About 16% of their offense graduated.

And you think UConn is faced with the tougher task of replacing their scoring?

The Deshields/Russell duo is certainly talented but both played injured 2 seasons ago and we only have the word of the Tenn coaches that they are 100%. If I remember that's just what they said about Tucker prior to last season, and what they said about Massengale after she missed the last third of the 2014 season. Didn't we just learn that Ariel played with a bad knee that needed surgery after this past season?

I don't know if Tenn has any elite opponents early in the season, but if they do, the loss of Harrison, Burdick and Massengale will be noticed.

I think the fact that both Deshields and Russell made their USA squads helps prove they are good to go. Unless all the opinions of those on the panel who selected those 2 shouldn't be taken into consideration. UCONN will be fine, I'm sure. UT will hopefully make strides to catch up to y'all soon. Best of luck to you guys next year.

Im sure that was mentioned when Renee left, when Tina left as well and of course when Maya, Hartley and Dolson all left.

Other teams need to step up, ND (Diggins/McBride) and Baylor (Griner/Sims) showed up but others didnt
