I agree, but people bought his "white in shining armor" routine and looks terrible to the media. It also could affect recruiting in terms of other coaches saying Pearl is a fake and a liar.

NYYVOl changed his name because he was embarrassed by some of the idiotic statements he made as "Lofton4Three."

You can believe what you want to believe, but if Bruce Pearl did not have a different conscience this summer than he did for most of his life, he would not have come forward to tell the truth.

Yes, I know that, but Pearl has been trying to play the whole "I was just trying to do the right thing" card when he was snitching to use it to his advantage. The media will eat that up and coaches will too.

Ugh!!! This is terrible! I've been so worried about the Football program I didn't even think about what our basketball team was doing!

Grrrr Firing Mike Hamilton is starting to sound REALLY good to me

Worst part?? That is the best part. I'd say there won't be any additional penalties after his salary cut. But it really just depends on the details of the situation. CBP said the infraction were NOT major, it just the fact that they were denied.

Has there ever been a coach lose part of his salary?
Does anyone know?

That's bull**** and you know it. You going to take what Pearl and Hamilton said after he blatantly lied to the NCAA? Yes, we should believe everything what the holy Bruce says.

If the NCAA finds more, when they release their officials penalties, it can be worse.

They've been saying it about Pearl this whole time, now they have concrete proof.

They've been probling Pearl since April 09. I don't think Kiffin had officially pissed of the AA by then....he was still working on it.

Who wants to bet about the NCAA penalties?

None for football, and no major ones for basketball.

No school in basketball history has ever tried to be this drastic in their self imposed financial sanctions.

Wish he had come clean about the extra texting, would be lots smaller penalties from the NCAA if self reported than what he is going through now.

I don't buy the "other coaches can use this against him" crap. It was additional phone calls and there isn't a competitor of ours out there who hasn't been there.

Did the NCAA start seriously sticking their noses around UT during/after Kiffin.

Yes.

I'm not referring to the basketball program, I'm referring to the University of Tennessee. Things where a lot calmer around here before he came along.

You are exactly right. If Pearl hadn't lied, this wouldn't be an issue. Anybody blaming Kiffin is trying to protect Bruce's ass.

Had it been a coach that didn't snitch to the NCAA twenty years ago, oh yea, I would agree. But they'll say that Bruce is a fake and just looks out for himself.

No one has ever had this happen. It had only been discussed as a possible avenue...

Basically Hamilton seized upon a discussed but never tried route of beating your own coach and staff with a hammer financially and in recruiting for the small advantage they took with extra texts to seek to get
1. The faster of the NCAA resolutions and
2. No additional severe penalties.
