Hong Kong + the West vs. China vs. Corporations

I’m late to this NBA toughness conversation, but LeBron as big as he is, and some of the shots he’s taken over the years, he’s never been through a consistently physical series like the old Celtics vs Pistons, Laker vs Celtics , Pistons vs Bulls , Knicks vs Bulls, Knicks vs Heats. Kobe would thrive on that sort of style because he was a cold blooded killer. LeBron as amazing as he is, isn’t mentally built that way. He’d probably bitch about it while drinking wine with his like minded progressive buddies on his very original The Shop.

Did you watch Heat/Pacers? They* did everything they could and he owned them. You speculate that he can't because you haven't seen it but you haven't seen it because the league is different, not because Lebron is weak.

When has Kobe been through that? Kobe played the worst basketball of his life against the 2004 Pistons, which was probably the most physical series he was in. The legend of Kobe is becoming ridiculous.

Side note: Jordan gets all this credit for being tough enough to win physical series against the Knicks and Pistons but the Knicks were not very talented and he didn't beat the Pistons until they got old.

second video, you call those hard fouls? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

No. The video did. The point of the video is he's finishing through fouls stronger than a "slap from Jordan Bone" proving you have no idea what you're talking about.

What about that other video? First foul was an old school flying elbow to the face and Lebron didn't die. He even kept playing. Is your fabricated reality shattered?

He is strong as f, no one questions that. He's a hell of an athlete. But a guy grabbing him around the shoulders is not a hard foul. He's soft. He flops around like a fish out of water. He's not the only one, that's todays NBA, but he's the best player and is built like a damn freight train so that's why I call him out. His soft ass wouldn't want any part of 80s/90s basketball

I readily admitted that he flops. It's a manipulation of the refs and you're confusing its meaning. He's not coming out of the games on most legitimately hard fouls, let alone the flops.

On those videos, I thought he had been shot. I don't care why he does it. He's soft. As weak as today's NBA is he could score 75 points a game due to his size/athleticism. No one in todays game can slow him down if he decides to get to the rim. Other than physically soft he doesn't have that killer mind set like Jordan and Kobe had.

It's fine to dislike the flopping. I dislike it too. But you don't understand what it means about him. MJ manipulated the refs in his own way, too.

He's a point forward, not a volume shooting guard. He's not trying to be them. He's trying to be a hybrid between MJ and Magic. If he were more like Kobe or MJ, you'd be twisting it to call him a ballhog and a bad teammate. You're just a Lebron hater and it doesn't matter how good or successful he is, you're going to find reasons to trash him.

I admit I don't like him. I do appreciate how good he is though. He's a top 10, maybe 5 player ever. When the game is on the line or your teammates suck he should be a bad teammate. He doesn't have that same thing they have. If no one else can score, like those years in Cleveland when Irving and Love were hurt, he needed to go get 60 and wouldn't

What are you talking about? His last four finals in Cleveland are like 4 of the top 10 most productive finals of all time, and we're talking points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks, not just points. He averaged 35.8 in 2015, which is the most since Shaq in 2002 and it tied Jordan's 2nd best, and again, it's not even his style of play but he still did it. Lebron average 34 in 2018 with a hurt shooting hand, and 33.6 in 2017. Kobe never hit those marks in 7 finals, even when he took 27 shots a game.

He's literally right there with the two most dominant scorers of my lifetime on the biggest stage and it's not enough for you.

You’re right it is a different league, there’s a lot more money, it’s called differently, the players are different towards each other, flagrants are enforced differently. I didn’t say LeBron was soft physically, but I don’t think his mentality is the same as others before him. That’s why I complimented Kobe, because his competitive nature sure comes across a lot more than Lebron’s does. Especially in the last year. Nobody had a better year in retirement than Kobe did last year after that shitshow of a season LeBron put on display in a Laker uniform. I’m not talking about #’s, but the highlight reel of subpar effort and his overall attitude didn’t do him any favors. I’m the same age as you I think, but my personal preference was a different kind of league with better rivalries.

I don’t think Jordan won just because the Pistons were old, I think it’s because the Bulls drafted well with Pippen and Horace Grant.

It was a combination of both, but they were clearly old. Zeke fell off a cliff in 1991. He averaged 13 ppg in the playoffs.

Lebron is not the young stallion he once was and he saves himself for the playoffs. He did the same thing in 2018 with the subpar effort in the regular season, then he was an absolute beast in the playoffs. Judge him when you've put the minutes on your body. He's already played more than Vince Carter, who was Kobe's peer. Kobe going all out in the regular season as an older player is probably why he tore his ACL and then totally sucked for the last couple of years (17.6 ppg and 16.9 fgapg in the "best retirement year ever").

Perception is reality and Kobe has been able to fool people into thinking he's something that he's not. Young black mamba Kobe would have hated old Kobe for a meaningless farewell tour that held the franchise back. Take it from a Lakers superfan (Flea).

Love it. These morons wont visit the White House because they dont like some of the things our president says.

But will go to China where you are literally not allowed to speak on certain things.

Some big thinkers in that league.

Going to China is part of their obligation to their team. You know their boss. Trump is not their boss.

Being cowards also part of their obligations?

How much money would you be willing to give up to speak out against China? $1M? $25M?

The players' salaries are based on league revenue and half the league's fans are in China, not to mention endorsements. People who have never done anything that required courage are calling people cowards for being Switzerland because it's in their best interest to a level that you can't even comprehend.

When have you ever taken a stand that cost you $? How much?
