Hookers draft projection

His age will hurt him just like Hooker. He'll be 24 when his draft rolls around. I also think the chances of him having a statistically similar year as Hooker did this season is slim to none. He looked good against Clemson but it's going to take more than 1 game before I anoint him the #1 pick.

I’m not attempting to anoint him after one game. But even by saying he will be 24, you’re admitting he will be younger than Hooker. Given the talent around him he will have the opportunity. He has an insane arm.

I didn’t think Hooker could have back to back seasons this special either. I’m not saying it’s 100%, but i could see it happening

Thats absurd. What? I don't see how thats even possible. Anthony Richardson will never be a better QB than Hooker and his ass is prolly going in the first round.
I can see arguments on both sides. If hooker hadn't gotten hurt, I would say late 1st-2nd round. But, unfortunately, he did. Now, it's really hard telling, IMO. I believe he deserves to go no later than the second round, so that's where I would say.

Unfortunately the draft is more off intangibles and projectability than what you have shown me in college. As stated he is older and will miss a whole season due to his acl, this leads me to think he is a late round guy, possibly even an udfa.

You don't believe he will be ready to play come week 1 of next year?

Yeah Joe will be the same age Will Levis is now and Levis is being talked about being a top ten pick after playing like absolute garbage.

How can you possibly think putting up Hooker numbers is slim to none? You're just a hater.

He literally put up Hooker numbers against one of the best defenses in the FBS 251 yards and 3 TD's and...we took the foot off the gas and tried to run the clock out the last two drives.

So if he did that against Clemson then what is he gonna do against UVA, Austin Peay, UT-San Antonio, UConn, Vandy and Missouri?

He's got Bru, Squirrel, Keyton, Thornton, Warren, Castles (better receiving TE than Fant) and every RB back.

In his third season under Heupel...in the best offense in college football....

But yeah sure almost a zero chance to throw for 3100 yards and 27 TD's 😂

Now that's funny. Ask a question. Get honest we'll thought answer that you don't like. And you go into attack mode. LOL.

The guy's just pulling off the OCG and being realistic man. Can you imagine an NFL franchise drafting an injured player in Rd 1. A player who will miss off season work, training camp, some/all pre season, and then TRY to catch up DURING his a 1st NFL season as a QB? Not only that, but their are "questions" @ HHs game translating to NFL O schemes already.

Bottom line is that this life is very unfair. HH going down v USCjr cost him a lot of money and puts him having to make up ground. Sucks to see it happen to an awesome young man like this. Here's to hoping a solid Org that can wait a couple of years with an aging starter picks him and lets him develop into a superstar that he may become.

100%. The size and arm strength the nfl will love. Especially if he can put up near Hooker level numbers. Could be number 1 overall

Sounds crazy. But if pro orgs saw him play 23' w some QB moxy, great decision making, and arm CONTROL ... then they would be lusting over his measurables! It's not out of the question.

Because he is about to start his 6th year of CFB and hasn't come close so far. He also is not nearly as mobile as Hooker. I'm not a hater, I'm just not going to dismiss 5 years of inconsistency because of 1 game, a game in which he wasn't really asked to throw the ball deep a lot. Wonder why?

I expect him to play well against all of those teams you listed. It's the games that actually matter that I'm more worried about.

Hooker hadn’t came close until he did.

Is that the only place opportunity counts?
That's all I'm counting. I don't know who Hooker's coaches were at VT or what kind of offense they ran. Same with Milton at UM. And I've seen very little game film of them at their previous schools.

He’s a month removed from ACL surgery right now. I hope he makes it back in time, but it seems like a big ask for him to make it back in time for preseason 7 1/2 months after surgery.

someone who plays in CJH's offense will have to put up the same monster numbers in the NFL before pro scouts are going to buy in. If HH becomes a starter in NFL and kills it, he will pave the way for some guys in the future to maybe be 1st rounders. it think its the system that hurts him more than the ACL. Probably being 25 years old also hurts more than the ACL.

No. It's all physical attributes and how you played. They aren't waiting to see how prior QB's do in the nfl.

There are enough Air Raid guys in the NFL that I’m not sure it’s as big a deal as it once was.

The interesting side though is Hooker changed the plays at the LOS, made the correct reads, through the long ball with touch and accuracy. His TD to INT ratio was really good against the some of best defenses in the nation.

That is why I think he will be 3rd or 4th round at most even with the injury. He put in the work and learned to read defenses and coverages.

Richardson and Levis honestly never put in the work to learn that.

Honestly, his injury is gonna hurt him bad in the draft. His rookie year will basically be a redshirt-I doubt he sees the field in 2023 at all.

I doubt he goes before round 5-ish given that.

What happens after that as always will be up to him. We are seeing more and more later round guys come in and do well, so if Hook puts in the work and performs he will get his shot eventually.
Some team will get a great player with a 2nd-3rd day pick. Does anyone remember Trey Smith?

5th round is a reasonable projection. It's not fair, but there are enough question marks (age, ACL recovery, status as a "system" QB) that will push him farther and farther back in the draft.
