Hookers draft projection

Joe will be good at short yardage situations. Weighing in at 240 will be a plus. I'm sure he was instructed not to take off unless absolutely necessary especially with our depth issues at the end. He just needs to trust his size and learn to run. He definitely has the capability.
He is over 240, but he run like a 190 player. You can tell he doesn’t wasn’t to get hit and turns his back/shoulders instead of trying to get as much yardage as possible. Can not have that when another yard will move the chain.

If he falls enough I’d love for my Vikings to draft him. He could sit under Kirk a couple years and have lots of weapons around him when he’s ready.

Never said he didn't have the capability. He has to get the desire.

You absolutely want that unless it is third down

5th round is a reasonable projection. It's not fair, but there are enough question marks (age, ACL recovery, status as a "system" QB) that will push him farther and farther back in the draft.
Due to teams trying to "steal" a smart pick and since its a QB that has extremely sexy measurables, NO WAY does HH fall lower than late 3rd round. I repeat, it only takes one GM to love the guy. Some team will do a draft day trade to augment an extra 2nd or 3rd round pick so that they feel they are getting an "bonus" pick, and boom HH gets drafted.

Yeah I think 3 is a low as he would go.

I am afraid your position is an agenda based mindset. Every play a QB makes is situational. Bet the staff has shared operating instructions based on down and distance AND game situation. Showing manhood when you are in for mop-up duty is probably discouraged, but part of your body of work for analysis. When he was in for an injured HH he was really not in a position to risk injury.

Even his most famous last play vs Kiffy is oddly characterized, in that as he was being chased out of the pocket and going toward the sidelines he DID slow up before he approached the LOS at the 21 and looked downfield and could have chunked a prayer toward the goal line, but instead tight roped the sideline for 13 yards and was caught 8 yards short with a shot to the chops when slowing and hoping for an overrun by the defender a a cutback was his only hope. Tougher when you give up your speed to take every moment to find a target. Check out him surveying the field and his body angle as he approached the 25 through the 21 and where and how he was contacted at the 8. Many think throwing a prayer was the best option, but that was and forever will be an assumption. It for sure would have eliminated risk to his body if he chunked it and stepped out. This on a play where our 5 OL lost the battle immediately against the 3 guys rushing and put him into scramble mode. He NEVER had a chance to set his feet and survey the field. That replay is still available in the thread What's the word on Milton, post #242. All are invited to review it.

If and when he is our starter and meaningful game situations present themselves, we can measure his heart and determination against how HH did IN THAT ROLE and in those situations when we apples to view.

Late Rounds. I am a Hooker fan but he will never make it in the NFL. He will be another Dobbs. Good smart player but will hold a clipboard....

It is an important aspect of winning football games in that on 3rd and 1 or 4th and 1 there are different places which can be called. If your QB is not able to get a yard or two and is limited in his desire to get that yard or two, your ability to get the first down or touchdown is limited. That can lead to a turn over as well as not getting a touchdown or a first down. you are likely to lose a close game you should have won if your QB was an aggressive runner. HH was much better than average is his ability to gain the necessary 1 or 2 yards in those situations.

Lol. This thread. Hooker will be drafted by the 3rd round. He is one of the best qbs available and the best decision maker of all of them. He didn't get arrested or have xharacter flaws like the kid from UF. I say third rd because of the ACL. If not for that he is likely a day 1

Agree, minus the injury maybe 1st or 2nd qb off the board. As it were I think by 3rd round. My heart hopes Titans, but I think the Giants I think would be his best landing spot.

I’m obviously not an NFL draft scout, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he went somewhere from the late 3rd to mid 4th round

Quarterbacks are the least predictable player group in the NFL---draft and game performance. First-round busts have been very common for years--partly because teams who think they're desperate for a QB tend to reach--draft guys high in the first (out of fear of not getting a QB) who are not high first-round talent. Look who might have led the Niners to the Super Bowl this year were not for his injury--a rookie QB who was the last player taken in the draft. I rate him to get the starting nod next year over Trey Lance, whom the Niners gave up a ton of picks to move up near the top of the first round to get two years ago. Look at Geno Smith---career-long backup but got the starting nod in Seattle this year and played well.

Where/when do you guys think he goes? When do you think he deserves to be drafted?
Here is my take. He is our first QB that deserves to be taken in the first round in a very long time. I hope he goes to the Saints. Could yall just imagine Hooker and Kamara on the field at the same time?

I'm hoping he goes to my Bronco's or Duurrty Birds. He could sit behind Wilson and learn from Sean Payton. He's a day 2 or 3 pick and definately not a day 1 starter. But he should have a great career in the right system. Not a Saint's fan, but do have a lot of ex Vols I pull for there. He would do well in Nola also.

The only other coach better for a QB to sit under than Payton is Andy Reid. I think Hooker would thrive in Denver.
