Hookers draft projection

Because he is about to start his 6th year of CFB and hasn't come close so far. He also is not nearly as mobile as Hooker. I'm not a hater, I'm just not going to dismiss 5 years of inconsistency because of 1 game, a game in which he wasn't really asked to throw the ball deep a lot. Wonder why?

I expect him to play well against all of those teams you listed. It's the games that actually matter that I'm more worried about.
Not even worried about the deep ball. He hit all of them against Clemson and hit a deep ball in every other game he played.

He was in control against Clemson, going through his progressions, competed deep balls, slants, post patterns etc. He got sacked a few times partially because he held onto the ball too long, but also Clemson's defensive line was elite. Everybody was covered.

Not nearly as mobile? I wouldn't say that. It's not his strong suit but he still can run. Remember his 54 yard run against Pitt?

He's 25, coming off an injury, and Tennessee's offense is such that it allowed Hendon to make one read and turn loose. Sometimes he would even predetermine his receiver and look him down.

He'll probably go 3rd round, and he has the arm talent they look for in the pros. Some things like mechanical inconsistencies and progression reading can be worked on. I'll be rooting for him hard.

Like I said, he did play well against Clemson. I just am going to need more than 1 game before I am sold, not a meaningless bowl game on a neutral field. Also their best D lineman didn't even play.

And yes, I do remember that run. I was there. His only memorable scramble since he's been here. Milton is capable of running, he just doesn't like to. And Hooker is definitely quicker. If Milton does take off, he isn't going to be juking anyone like Hooker.

Bowl game wasn't meaningless

But anyways

We'll be fine

Milton's gonna carve some people up with our ridiculously talented WR core.

Thats absurd. What? I don't see how thats even possible. Anthony Richardson will never be a better QB than Hooker and his ass is prolly going in the first round.
Hooker will have to prove he's recovered from his injury. That prob knocked him from late 1st round or early 2nd round. THird round not inconceivable. When/If he shows at the combine, he's 100 %, someone will have got a great deal. Just the way it is.

His injury and especially his age work against him, but his work ethic and character will have teams looking to add him to their QB room. Hooker is the kind of player whose success really will depend on where he lands, the commitment of the organization to his development and the coaches he has an opportunity to work with.

I believe he will be a late day 2 pick but he could slide to the 4th round. It might sound strange, but his best bet might be not being drafted and being able to pick his destination as a UDFA, although his chances of sticking would be greatly reduced if a team didn't have to spend a draft pick. I'm just hoping he gets to a spot that will give him a real shot at getting healthy and developing his game.

SBIV will have the same age issue in the draft. He's not in any 1st round projections because of that regardless of his accomplishments the last 2 years. And he comes off as a prick in any post game interview. Not even sure what round, if any, he is projected largely due to age. H'es been pretty darn tough, and fortunate for lack of injury.

I was talking about Hooker. Bennett, if he is even drafted, will be at best a practice round / 3rd string type player. Those huge windows he had to throw into with all day to throw against mostly bad secondaries don't exist in the NFL. The speed and size of NFL players is a totally different world from anything he's seen, and his lack of size and arm strength will be exposed very quickly.

It's January. Ryan Tennehill was a joke because he was a WR and then dropped into the first round after some discussions as a QB and on pro day he is looking like a top 5 pick. Trust me.. it's only January

He started at QB for A&M the entirety of his senior year. (And played the position 8 games of his junior year.)

I think Milton had more straight line speed than Hooker, whereas nowhere near the agility.

Bennett's age is not why he won't be drafted.

Is that not most college QB's though, including Hooker?

No doubt, but the QB's that make it in the NFL have the arm strength to make all the throws, and the ones that succeed can do that with accuracy into those tight windows and learn to process all the information so the game slows down for them. Hooker has a cannon, and Bennett a pea-shooter, and Bennett's size makes it that much harder to find those windows.

Don't disagree, but he's not trash either. Also don't think his demeanor will wear well in interviews. He's been off-putting in his post game field interviews. He would be a serviceable #2. But, Kurt Warner shows odd things do happen in the NFL. If a long shot is in the right place at the right time, but those are not the rule.

I would argue however that the arm strength to throw to the wide flats appears more important than down field bombs. THe group of NFL QB's that can sling them 70+ yards (including the upcoming graduates) is at best a third of the leauge. and with the DB's in the league, you don't get multiple deep routes unless you are trying to thread a needle at long range.

Prediction of HH to the saints at #40

Let's play out the NFL offseason QB market: We made offers and chose landing spots for Carr, Garoppolo, Young

i
40. Saints: Hendon Hooker, Tennessee

This would be a great scenario for the Saints after failing to acquire a QB in free agency and missing out on the top four passers in the draft class. The idea would be that 35-year-old Andy Dalton is the bridge quarterback for 2023 and Hooker could either sit behind him or push him for a starting job if he's ready -- though he is still recovering from a torn ACL. The Saints haven't developed a young QB in a long time, and being able to get a signal-caller on a rookie contract would be ideal for their cap situation. -- Katherine Terrell

I don't think Milton will be asked to carry the ball very often. If he can complete 68% of his passes, he will not run very much. I think our running game will be better next year, especially if we find a replacement at RT.

Unfortunately the draft is more off intangibles and projectability than what you have shown me in college. As stated he is older and will miss a whole season due to his acl, this leads me to think he is a late round guy, possibly even an udfa.

Sad, but probably true..

Joe will be good at short yardage situations. Weighing in at 240 will be a plus. I'm sure he was instructed not to take off unless absolutely necessary especially with our depth issues at the end. He just needs to trust his size and learn to run. He definitely has the capability.
