House of the Dragon

To each their own but it makes exactly zero sense
May be you.

Lol, no offense, just saying I stopped watching it because none of it made sense to me but obviously it was mostly me because a bunch of others here were diggin it.

The show is great. The actual ending to that particular episode does not make any sense - from the books or from a storytelling perspective.

I have a strange way of watching shows and movies so sometimes I'm not the best critic. Lol.

I only made it through the first 2 episodes, I'll probably try it again at some point because I really want to like it.

What am I missing with the dagger in the cart? Why did that convince Aegon that the king named him?

It was Aegon the Conqueror's and I'm not sure it convinced him of the king naming him. I just think it's highly coveted and he had a boner for it. It's the dagger that Arya uses to kill the Night King.

Was that dagger the same one that baelish gave to the cut throat several hundred years later? Kinda looks like it.

Some parts of this show are just weird and seemingly unnecessary, thinking of weird foot fetish masturbation scene.

It made sense. She came back with her dragon to show her complete disapproval for how this has all transpired. She had the dragon roar, but not kill them, to show them exactly what they’ve just brought on themselves.

It was basically a giant “You just screwed yourself” statement.

And it signifies the beginning of the Targaryen civil war.

Why start a war that you can end in one second? Thanks for making my point.
Meh maybe she respects the queen and hopes she makes things right, maybe she wants to be a badass, maybe her dragon is out of fire. Who knows. Still fun show. Didn’t bother me a bit.

What book is the current show based on? I'm looking to start reading the GOT books. Is the house of dragon the book before got?

It's based on a section of the book Fire and Blood. Fire and Blood is not one of the GoT books.

The GoT books came out before Fire and Blood (first one was in the 90s I think and Fire and Blood has only been out 4-5 years maybe), but House of the Dragon takes place in the timeline like 170 years before GoT.

What he said^. GoT was a series of novels Fire and Blood is written more as a history book. It tells an overview from the time of the conquest forward. It covers major events, but doesn't get into the depth of the story and people. Like I said it was written as a history book instead of a novel. What HotD is doing is fleshing out one of the time periods it covers.

Episode 8 was great. Viserys did his best to keep the peace. While I get the point about the time jumps I did enjoy seeing him "erode" but still push for heart/family over political gain. The guy making a claim to Driftmark shouldn't have called Daemons wife a whore it appears.

Episode 9 set up many conflicts among what should be allies - the Kings Guard fractured, the one-eyed kid is a wild card and the Hightowers are scheming against each other. The Targaryens are now allying.

Once you get over it's not GOT it's a good stand alone story

GREAT finale! Can't wait for more! Hopefully the wait isn't too long.
Hopefully not, I think I read it's already shooting. Only issue I've heard was from a couple of the YouTube background people I watch. They say the rumor is early 2024, but I hope that's wrong and they try to keep it yearly and around the same time like they did most of GoT. Maybe Sep 2023 ish I hope. If I'm not mistaken except the last 2 seasons GoT did April every year

You are correct, but this one is going to take longer because they weren’t even sure there would be a second season until this one aired. Thrones was always going to be multiple seasons.

The goal is to begin shooting this one by early to mid 2023, which probably unfortunately does indicate a 2024 release. My guess would be we’ll get an April 2024 release, then every April after that like Thrones did.

House green seems to be more competent politically and have more allies, but house black has the better claim to the throne and dragons.
