If there were a black market for Newport’s we’d have the same problem.

In a sense, there used to be such a market. Was a time, women were not allowed to smoke. They found ways to circumvent this to buy, or otherwise acquire, and smoke cigs. The 1970s Virginia Slims ads used to have a field day with this.

Here's a rundown on the taxed levied by state, figure it out yourself.
Update on State Cannabis Taxation
Meh, some states are kinda outrageous but 10-15 percent for the most part. Definitely not half the cost on the black market. I think most people when given the choice will gladly pay an extra 20 bucks for an ounce just because you know exactly what you're getting and don't have to deal with POS dealers.

Your dealer doesn't deliver?

Don't think so. It's still about $200 an ounce in California.

There have been several articles on how the illegal pot business boomed after legalization, 60 minutes had a segment on it and even the head of the CHP agreed taxes and regulation drove the cost of the legal product higher than the illegal stuff.

I saw the Oregon break down full stop. Used to live out there. The problem with Oregon is the same as Californians. The Californians moved in and turned it into an extension of northern California. Oregonians hate Californians for that.

The problem with California is two fold, not only were they first, but they have a never ending stream of newbs and drug addicts. They just keep coming. It's easy live on the streets because of the weather, and all of them want to be pot dealers (it's all they know).

Poor Oregon was forced into the bad side of cannabis.

Cannabis Reform Dead In Congress After Objections From Republicans

Ah, yes, the freedom-loving people want to continue to restrict people's behavior, because they know what's best for you.

Reading is fundamental.

Though it had nine Republican cosponsors, the cannabis banking bill lacked the kind of broader bipartisan support it needed to catch a ride on a government funding bill. It’s possible that it could have passed with a stand-alone vote, but Democrats had failed to schedule one.

I only smoke cannabis (when allowed) and drink (forced poison) these days, so let me get that out of the way, but Mushrooms are coming, and somehow more accepted than cannabis because of the opioid crises.

You cannot treat your addiction with cannabis, no matter how concentrate you make it. You can treat addiction with mushrooms though appearently.
