@canitpro just to give you the benefit of a doubt I've spent the last little bit searching. There are NO federal or state laws against possession of them. Obviously if they are used to actually hold or abduct someone that's a whole other issue, but possession isn't illegal. Thoughts are illegal, you can't charge someone for what they "might do" this isn't minority report.
That said, there are some local laws on the city level banning them. Namely NYC & CHICAGO, imagine that, but I couldn't find anything addressing it in DC.
I don't understand why the police don't just shop at Harbor Freight and buy the normal big zip ties for $1.99. Look at the money they could save taxpayers, especially on the left coast where they are just going to let them go anyway.Which are actually these:
Flexible Restraints, Disposable Cuffs & Flex-Cuffs | Galls
Which are meant for those situations. Dude was carrying normal cable ties.
Hell they got some monster ones at Tractor Supply company. I think you could hog tie a gorilla with them, give it a Brazilian and never have to worry. They're like $5 for a couple dozen.I don't understand why the police don't just shop at Harbor Freight and buy the normal big zip ties for $1.99. Yet another reason to hate our current system. One word. Lawsuits.
Lawyers go apeshit over trying to sue police departments for "non-standard" ammo. Imagine if they were restraining someone with "non-standard" zip ties and they got hurt.
I know your post was semi-tongue in cheek, but that's the reality.
Gotta buy zip ties from women and/or minority owned businesses first..I don't understand why the police don't just shop at Harbor Freight and buy the normal big zip ties for $1.99. Yep.... real quality can be found there
I use Harbor Freight as a place for the "use once" tools so to speak. If I have something I'm going to use one time maybe every two or three years, I'll buy from there. I bought a couple of breaker bars from HF that I use every once in a while.
Or if I have tools that I won't mind beating up. For example, I bought an axe from there specifically for chopping up roots in the ground. Don't care if it gets chipped on a rock or rusted or whatever. It literally is a "throw away" axe.
Some of their stuff isn't bad quality wise though. Their tool cabinets are pretty good.
