I'll be in the minority: I'm not sure UGa is any better than Bama.
They have a somewhat (but not markedly) better defense than the Tide. They gave up 22 points to Mizzou. And to Kent State. You read that right, 22 to Kent State. So they're far from infallible. Not in the same zip code as the 2021 UGa defense (which was, admittedly. world class). This year's edition of Dawg-D is much closer to this year's Bama D than it is to '21 UGa. Slightly better than Bama, but not a whole lot. They don't have a lot of sacks thus far; their leader getting to the QB is LB Nolan Smith, with 3 sacks. In 7 games. Against mediocre competition, mostly. Nothing remarkable in turnovers, either. All in all, they're good on defense...but not eye-popping excellent.
They are not quite as dangerous as Bama on offense. Their QB, Stetson Bennett, is serivceable, good even...but not nearly as good as Bama's Bryce Young. At running back, they don't have a Gibbs. Instead, they do RB by committee, sort of like us. Three different backs (Daijun Edwards, Kendall Milton, and Kenny McIntosh) each have over 200 yards on the season thus far, which is serviceable but not eye-popping. They don't have a Tillman or Hyatt at WR. In fact, their best receiver, Brock Bowers, is their tight end.
On special teams, their kicker, Jack Podlesny, is not a name you'll have heard before, and for a reason. He's fine. Just fine. He's 2 of 4 on FG attempts beyond 40 yards (to be fair, one of the two misses was beyond 50). His long is a 42-yarder. Their kick and punt returner (I think he does both) is a kid named Kearis Jackson. He has done nothing of note this season, far as I know.
But here's the key thing to keep in mind as you compare UGa and Bama: while the Tide have been slogging through an early schedule that includes Texas, Arkansas, A&M, and the Vols ... UGa have been feasting on cupcakes: Samford, South Carolina, Kent State, Mizzou, and Vandy. Sure, they played Auburn and Oregon as well, and beat Oregon by a wide margin. But Oregon was the first game of the year, when weird things can most easily happen. And Auburn isn't much more of a challenge than Vandy it seems, this year.
TL;DR out of all that is, if we can beat Bama--and we did (Cheshire grin)--we can definitely beat UGa. Gotta bring our best game, it won't be easy, but we can knock the Dawgs down. I'm not sure we score quite 52 on them...but I'm pretty positive they won't score 49 on us. Call it maybe 45-41, Vols.
Go Vols!
