Taxes brother, and that's the ONLY reason. If we didn't have to pay taxes, I'm sure they wouldn't care if you were married to 10 wives and had 40 kids. It's all about taxes man. We talking about taxes.
Marriage is simply an agreement between two people. Why in the world would any one want gov't to regulate it?
Why would any one want gov't to define it.............
well the gov't currently gives a lot of benefits to married people over domestic partners (like the unlimited estate tax exemption, duel filing of taxes, control over the healtcare of your spouse, etc).
Being married only helps in taxes if the two are very unequal earners prior to marriage. At one time, marriage was a benefit to pretty much everyone, but tax rates were changed to fix this. Now, most people end up paying more taxes when they get marriage. That's why it is often called "the marriage penalty" by tax practitioners.
can't pass up a chance to get a religion bash in I see![]()
He may be insane, but he has a point. If gay marriage is legal, what's the legitimate argument for not allowing polygamy as well? It's fine if you are okay with both, but I'm not sure why one is okay but the other isn't.
