I admit it. I'm getting optimistic about the Gators.

Long time lurker but newbie poster (so no disrespect to Florida fans), I actually think Florida will drop off this year a bit. 7 or 8 wins would be my guess. Frankly, I don't see them beating FSU and probably not Michigan which means a 5-3 or 6-2 SEC campaign. Not saying we will beat them, just saying they won't be world beaters because they have a new QB. I wouldn't trade our roster with their's.

Every year, everyone is optimistic about the coming year. But I've been a Gator fan for longer than some of you have been on the planet. I'm used to that, and always try to temper that enthusiasm with a recognition of how difficult it is to maneuver to a successful year in the SEC.

But this year has felt different. And now I'm seeing a true competition between drop back passer Franks and dual threat Zaire. The Oline seems a lot better. And we have some young talent at WR.

Defensively we lost a lot of players to the NFL. But there were injuries late last year and some guys starting this year got valuable experience.

I think we win the East going away. We catch a good but somewhat inexperienced Michigan team early. It is still a longshot to beat 'bama. But if we stay healthy and catch a few breaks against them....

'bama .... I'll get back to you.

I so hope the Gators beat Michigan, but I just don't see it. I say 9-3 with losses to Georgia and even UT. I like your head coach, but I think he's been extremely fortunate in his early tenure. Remember, his offense in 2011 scored 6 points the first go 'round with LSU, and that offense eventually saw every player drafted into the NFL. I hope you prove me wrong and the Gators beat Hairball. I just don't see it though. The Tennessee game will be an upset.

Best of luck getting to the championship game again versus Alabama.

Hearings rumblings of players in trouble down at UF.

Callaway, Zaire, and Gardner. Credit card fraud? Any truth to it LG or LW?

So is this rumor on gator boards true that Calloway and Zaire run up over 150k on 3 females credit cards?

F'ED if it is

There is a thread about this on GatorCountry. According to one post, it involves the misuse of a school issued card. Callaway is one of the names that is being mentioned. How many strikes would this be for him? No official statement has been released yet from the university.

The rumor is that a player used his school-issued card, then reported it stolen so he got another one. Five other players then tried the same gimmick.

Organizer off the team. No charges. Discipline will be internal.

All rumor.

I've heard more than one national "expert" (one being Tom Luginbill) proclaim that Florida has a playoff team caliber roster this year. Not sure how that's quite possible given their last 2 recruiting classes (which were good, not great) and what they lost defensively from last year's team, but at least a handful of analysts agree with you.

Serious question LG..

What makes you guys so optimistic about Zaire coming in and your QB situation/passing game getting better?

Zaire never lit it up at ND and, by many of your own fans admission, none of your other QB's have ever done anything.

Do you think its the "new guy" syndrome? Or just hoping for something better?

At the very least Zaire and Franks have a little more talent to maximize then Appleby and Del Rio

They were rated a lot higher by recruiting services also that's something I guess

According to 247 composite

Zaire - 93
Franks - 97

Appleby and Del Rio both rated 86

McElwain is only in his third season.

I hinted about it on the Title IX thread earlier today.

Not sure what to believe at this point.

If Callaway was even the slightest bit involved he needs to go. That guy had bad juju written all over him. I could see making the others pay restitution and maybe handling it with suspensions but not that guy.

Are all of your players majoring in Crime?

I hear a lot of talk about Michigan dominating the gators and I think it's mostly because of coaching. Michigan has recruited well but so have we (UT). We lost some key players from last year but so did Michigan, and arguably, more.

ESPN FPI gives Florida a 52.6% chance of winning the game and the S&P+ gives Michigan a 55% chance of coming out ahead.

It might be difficult, however, for UM to progress in 2017. The Wolverines must replace their leading rusher, four of their top five receiving targets, three all-conference offensive linemen, their top three defensive linemen, their best linebacker, and their top five defensive backs, including nickel back and Heisman finalist Jabrill Peppers.

Living in Miami I have learned ( even more) to hate the dog crap out of most Florida fans.
I hope Michigan curb stomps Florida then falls into a sinkhole starting with coach.
That being said UF always seems to get lucky, win a couple of games they shouldn't, and do just fine.
Dang it!
