I somewhat disagree with this. Gruden is sitting in the catbird seat right now. His name always seems to come up when major jobs come open. He is perceived as the great football coach and has to do nothing to prove it. He makes good money doing MNF and all the while people think he is the answer to turning around any down team pro or college. The thing about it is if he takes a job coaching he might become exposed as something less than a savior. His stock falls and his ego is crushed. He knows this and I would be surprised if he ever risks it all to coach again.
My point is and has always been is if he is the great coach a lot of people think he is he never would have been on MNF to start with. He would still be in the NFL. I don`t see him as the "slam dunk hire" and "instant success" coach that the Grudenites always claimed he was. Yes he has a super bowl ring that Tony Dungy helped him win but after that he went down hill.

No. Glazers were spending money, Gruden just couldn't do jack crap with it. He owes 99% of his wins in Tampa to Monte Kiffin, it sure as hell wasn't Gruden's anemic, pathetic offense getting the job done. FYJG.
That expensive defense was the reason why Gruden never got his man at QB. That matters as teams don't win with bad qbs. The decline of that overpaid defense made the Glazers being cheap on offense way worse. Why didn't Dungy win the SB with Brad Johnson?

Ted Thompson said superbowls are won in the front office. You have to have good players to make a good team.I guess they don't have a great coach. Because those guys find or MAKE a way to win. Clearly that's all they're missing.
Back when CBJ was hired and all the Grudenites were butt hurt, some were still clinging to the belief that Gruden was still in play had Hart not gone rogue and hired CBJ behind the boosters back. There was a couple of people on here who vehemently claimed that the infamous call Manning made to CBJ trying to recruit him to CO was to keep Hart from hiring him before the boosters could finish a deal with Gruden.
At the time I suggested that the simplest answer is probably the most likely one. That Manning lives in CO now and was asked by someone if he could put in a good word. Nothing more to it than that as TN hadn't even contacted CBJ when he made the call.
But noooooo, those few on here (and it was just a few) stood behind their illuminati conspiracy theory.
Well I'm here to gloat. I'm not even sure if those few posters are still around. Any way, here it is, the simplest explanation....

So if you were one of those conspiracy theorist please step forward and call Peyton Manning a liar.

Not all great coaches have enough talent to win. Do you expect Butch to win over 10 games with our talent right now?
Edit: Is that sarcasm?
Even when he won the Superbowl?
Dumb*ss statement Einstein.
