My point is and has always been is if he is the great coach a lot of people think he is he never would have been on MNF to start with. He would still be in the NFL. I don`t see him as the "slam dunk hire" and "instant success" coach that the Grudenites always claimed he was. Yes he has a super bowl ring that Tony Dungy helped him win but after that he went down hill.

No. Glazers were spending money, Gruden just couldn't do jack crap with it. He owes 99% of his wins in Tampa to Monte Kiffin, it sure as hell wasn't Gruden's anemic, pathetic offense getting the job done. FYJG.

That expensive defense was the reason why Gruden never got his man at QB. That matters as teams don't win with bad qbs. The decline of that overpaid defense made the Glazers being cheap on offense way worse. Why didn't Dungy win the SB with Brad Johnson?

Sometimes things just don`t work out. Why didn`t Tennessee win a NC while Peyton Manning was our QB? It wasn`t because Tee Martin was a better QB than Manning.

Great coaches find or MAKE a way to win. Pretty telling for someone that considers himself an offensive genius to not be able to even crack the top half of the NFL in points scored or total yards during his tenure.

Not all great coaches have enough talent to win. Do you expect Butch to win over 10 games with our talent right now?

How many times did he choke here at Tennessee? How many times did he beat Florida?

Peyton got lucky and played the bears in that SB. He was choking that game away before Rex ultimately did it. Peyton didn't win the SB. His team bailed him out.
