I'll give you the one time he didn't choke it all away. He did not have a good game at all against the bears. He relied on Grossman losing his backside to Freeney. How about all of the 9 first game exits in the playoffs despite being one of the best?

Peyton Manning has, and continues, to do SO MUCH for the University of Tennessee, that I will never speak a bad word toward him. For you to do so shows your character, and I won't have a conversation with an @#%$#

Not at all. Tee Martin was the QB of the first Vols team I watched as a 7 year old. I am from Northern California as that indicates. It's nice to have my character attacked for saying what I think is true. I'm not saying Peyton is a bad person, but I love knocking down people who are treated like Demigods.

I will tell you guys that it was not smart for Tee to stay at USC. The news here is Kiffy gets the axe if next year sucks again.

So you are bashing Peyton for losses against Florida that you didn't even see live? A time frame that found you playing in sandboxes and eating dirt?

I'm not attacking his character! Why on earth would I do that? I'm saying he's bad in the playoffs. That's all. I would be slandering him if I attacked his character. I was rooting for Favre in 97, whom also can choke games away.

I heard on the radio going into last years playoffs Manning's individual stats and QB rating are actually better than Brady's in the playoffs. Manning has really only had 2-3 really bad playoff performances but otherwise he has done enough to win. The team as a whole didn't get it done. JMO.

I haven't been on much lately because of some major personal tragedies going on in my life. But I will face the armchair firing squad again.

I thought Gruden was coming. Someone that works with the UTAD said that he was the number 1 target. Didn't say his name then and won't now.

There were other things happening too. I have friends that are coaches and some that are former coaches. In those circles, there was talk.

Bottom line, it didn't work out. Like most people I was disappointed that it didn't. However, I am pleasantly surprised by the recruiting of this staff and how they are doing things. Hopefully it translates to wins.

Did he or did he not win one of the only 2 SEC Championships TN has won in the past 20 years?

3 games does not make a career. He actually played good enough to win in those games. Too bad he wasn't on defense to stop the Fun n Gun.

How is simply calling attention to the fact that through the years, Manning has typically saved some of his worst performances for when it mattered the most attacking his character? You may not like it, because it doesn't fit your agenda, but facts are facts, and 9 first time exits speak for themselves. That said, it's impossible to lay any blame at Manning's feet for what happened this year. He had held up his end of the bargain and as long as his defense remembers that a football field is 100 yards rather than 75, they would have easily won that game.

So being a bad QB when it matters is a mental quality? Calling Peyton slow would be something mental, not saying he's a bad QB in the playoffs.

Atleast Tee beat Florida and won a national championship. I hate Florida way more than I love Tee. Just beat the Gators superstar.

To be clear there is nothing in the OP that implies that Manning recruited Butch Jones to Tennessee. The last sentence is about Manning's reaction at the time. Butch recounted the pone call inhis press conference (this is old news). He said he was thinking that he WISHED Manning was trying to get him to come to Tennessee instead of Colorado because this is his "dream job".

My conspiratorial mind makes me think that Manning knew that Hart was going rogue, and was doing his part to make sure he didn't hire Jones by pitching Colorado. That's speculation and is at odds with what Manning is saying publicly about being asked to call (which doesn't make a heck of a lot of sense to me to have a UT guy pitching the Buffaloes) I admit.
