Too bad for the SEC Dooley is gone and BUTCH is here.

Things are about to change in a big way.

Too bad for the SEC Kiffin is gone and DOOLEY is here.

Too bad for the SEC Fulmer is gone and KIFFIN is here.

We've heard it before.

That said, I think Jones is a good coach and will be around for a while. But every coach is awesome before he's coached his first game.

Bama is one Saban retirement away from the slide back down to where Bama was before he got there. Wasn't the tide 6–7 (2–6) in 2006?

I love how rival fans like to pretend that 97'-'07 is the norm for Bama throughout history.

Fyp

You missed a few years in that stretch. 74-61 in that time frame, with 23 of those wins getting vacated.

Aside from that stretch of years, history suggests that there has been a few lean years in a row followed by 7-8 good years. Right now Bama is at 5 years of great teams, 2 or 3 more years to see if history will repeat itself. I wouldn't be surprised to see Saban retiring around that timeframe, considering his age and success.

When Saban leaves Bama will take a step or 2 back. He's that much better than anything else right now. They'll pull a good coach. He just won't be that good.

We won the SEC in '99.

The ten years between '99 and '09 is the longest Bama has ever gone between league titles. So yeah, no matter what you want to convince yourself of, that stretch is the aberration, not the norm.

I'm looking for a huge upset! fla's offense should be mediocre again---UT can win scoring 17 points. I'll be partying at the gainesville bars all night long!!!

Our offense will be mediocre again...not sure if that means much considering what UT lost on offense.

I expect UT's defense to be improved, but i think it's a little far fetched to suggest a mediocre offense that scored 37 against you guys on the road will be held to 17 at home.

Don't you think it's about time and I say this because I know it's a true test for us. If we can beat them we launch our season off, its the win we need forget about the ducks we need to take the FLORIDA GATORS in a SEC matchup and beat the orange out off them. Amen

Headlines After Beating the Gators
Volunteers Make Gators a Endangered Species
Volunteers Ran Gators over Like Roadkill
The Swamp Altered to Rocky Top that Gators failed to Stop
Volunteers are Gatordundees in the Swamp

I strongly agree with you although what do you mean by beat the Orange out off them?

End the misery of close but no cigars against ranked teams starting with those darn Gators.
Hit them so hard the Gators keep losing their helments plus the Football, get contained by the Vols defense repeatedly that they throw their helments when going to the sideline, also hit the Gators so hard it's like something you saw in the magnificent movie Remember The Titans.

Let's not just defeat the Gators humilate them with a turnover when driving to get decrease the lead that leads to a turnover and TD for the Volunteers defense.
The Volunteers hit the Gators so hard that they'll be looking for most of their teeth before their next game, anytime they see bright orange it reminds them of the Volunteers hitting them so hard like they had titanium bodies, plus continue to see Volunteers when sleeping.

Run the ball successful, win Time of Possession, produce more than one turnover and any dropped balls on run plays recover them, and score mainly tds for all four quarters.

Serious question are Gators fans envious of the Song Rocky Top used by the UT Volunteers Band because they don't have any song that speficially talks about The Swamp in Florida?
I think there was a sign shown by Gators fans Rocky Flop when showing hilights of SEC Games before the SEC Championship.
That makes me hate the Gators even more.

So Rocky Top mentions Neyland Stadium? I don't understand your question.

However, I seriously doubt UF fans care too much about a song when they've regularly kicked UT's butt on the field for over 30 years.

well don't get me wrong, looking at the Fla game,is looking to far ahead for the up coming season, there are a lot of question marks to be figured out first, like who is going to be our starting QB,who is going to catch the passes from the QB,the first couple of games will have an impact on the rest of the year, well before the Fla game, the Oregon game will tell us what to expect for the rest of the year,as far as good competition goes

so hell yes they will beat the damn Gators

LOL, the popular sentiment around here seems to be that Bama is headed back to the Dubose/Franphony/Shula days as soon as Saban retires. Well, taking off the orange glasses for a moment, I will say this for Bama. When Saban does retire, while they will take a step back, it won't mean that they will automatically return to 6-7, 7-6 type of records every year. Saban built them up too high for them to just plummet back down overnight. See LSU for an example. Plus, I don't think you will ever see a Dubose/Franphony/Shula caliber guy at Bama again. You have to remember, during those times, they had no choice but to hire the likes of them. When Saban retires, they will be in a much better position than they were back in the 1990's and early 2000's. Of course, all of this is contingent on them not getting back into trouble with the NCAA as well.

If nothing else, we should have beaten Florida in 2006, 2010, and 2012. That 2006 game STILL makes me cringe.

I'll give you 2006, but I disagree on 2010 and 2012.

UT quit last year while the game was still very much in doubt. In 2010 Meyer knew he could exploit UT's special teams and called a perfect play at the perfect time.
