I think we backed right into the playoffs..

Oregon needs to beat USC in their title game, UNC needs to beat Clemson, and TCU needs a loss somewhere along the way to remove all doubt.

Strength of schedule should be considered over a 1 loss conference champ getting in but I doubt that happens.

I dont think a single one of those other teams mentioned plays the Vols schedule and gets through it with one loss.

JMHO
I'm not worried about Clemson. They got destroyed by Notre Dame. They're out. I think Oregon will beat USC.

Another thing to consider for LSU, is their loss to TN was fairly early in the season. Voters tend to not punish teams as much for early losses.

I agree.

Clemson hasn't been impressive at all this season and that ND loss was pitiful.

Haven't watched much USC this year but I see that game as a bit of a toss up.

Agree the SOS should be the deciding factor.

Hope the results fall into the Vols favor that there isn't any room for doubt though.

Didn't mention OSU and Michigan earlier but I think OSU destroys them. Michigan is perpetually overrated and gets by on a lousy schedule.

We're not a lock. They will push for a 1 loss PAC12 champion to get in over Tennessee because just like everyone is tired of Alabama winning everyone outside the south is tired of 2 SEC teams in the playoff and they feel sorry for the PAC. Even a 1 loss TCU might get the nod over us if they lose to Baylor but beat Kansas State in their championship game, recency bias, they play that weekend and we don't. Media is in love with TCU and if TCU wins out we're screwed. If OSU/Michigan is a tight loss in a thriller both could get the nod over us. OSU needs to stomp Michigan. We should get in above any of those teams based on SOS but there's bias working against us. All we can do is give beatdowns to SC and Vandy then hope for the best.

I would prefer to play Ga in the championship game, not the semifinal. For that to happen TCU needs to lose.

My hope

1 Georgia
2 Ohio State
3 Vols
4 USC/Mich/Clemson

This is far fetched because I don't think the committee will allow an all-SEC championship

Everyone forgetting a possible 1 loss pac12 team. Still need TCU and USC to lose. Heck, even a 1 loss ACC Champion/ Clemson could still jump as later.
I don’t think Clemson jumps us after we lose to #1 ranked ga & they loss to a then I ranked 3 loss Notre Dame team…

Honestly I think Ohio State is usually overrated too.

Yeah im not concerned about Clemson. I dont think they can make up enough ground to overtake UT even if they win out, USC on the other hand has a real shot of passing UT if they win out. They hype has begun with them and they jumped way up this week. It would be BS if it happened, but there you have it…

We really need 2 of the 3 to lose to really feel comfortable: Clemson, USC, and TCU. If all 3 lose, that is great. I think it could happen as they all still have tough matchups left.

You think a team that got boat raced by a 3 loss Notre Dame and plays in a cupcake conference (ACC) gets the nod over us? Good grief some of y’all are delusional! You will bend over backwards to tell yourself we don’t make it because of…what? Fear of disappointment? You enjoy being miserable? It’s ridiculous at this point. Clemson?! Seriously?

There is a lot of football left to be played however it’s not that difficult to see how challenging the argument for Tennessee will be when you take your orange tinted lenses off. Tennessee has two major problems. 1) A front-loaded schedule with no wins against ranked opponents after a late season loss. Whipping up on Missouri, S.Carolina and Vandy isn’t very impressive when other teams are playing meaningful football games and winning conference championships.
2) Arguing why Tennessee’s resume is better than that of a one loss Power 5 conference champion is a losing battle. If USC, Clemson or UNC finish 12-1 with a conference championship on their resume; they will get in over Tennessee.

We already know that TCU is in if they win out.

Southern Cal is sitting around #7 currently with games against #16 UCLA, #18 Notre Dame and a PAC Championship Game. It’s a tall task, but if USC gets through those 3 games they are 100% in.

There is a high probability that the ACC Championship Game is a 1 loss Clemson vs 1 loss UNC… both would be top 10 teams… The winner will probably jump Tennessee.

What happens if LSU beats Georgia? Lol
It’s ignorant to act like Tennessee is a shoe-in.

Again, you're 100% ignoring the two factors that are stated heavyweights for the playoff selection committee. Whenever these questions come up, those two have been the big-time determinant of who gets in.

Go look at the SOR and SOS for the top 10 teams. Come back and make the ACC, PAC, or 2-loss LSU argument when you've got a little more research done. The "early season" "late season" stuff is media drivel and hasn't been considered that heavily for at least the last few years. Don't just eat up what you're shoveled.

You would know. Since that’s exactly what happened last year. Of course most teams cannot rely on the team that destroyed you to lose their top 2 wide receivers allowing the team that got demolished in SEC championship to beat that team in the national championship. That probably isn’t a good strategy to bank on happening….
I would know what....that losing is a good strategy?

Honestly, I’m just going to let it all play out. I hope Tennessee gets in but I don’t expect it. I expect this message board will be a toxic heap of garbage come selection day if Tennessee doesn’t get in.

I wouldn't be shocked if we get screwed, but putting some of those teams ahead of us as locks is just as bad as assuming Tennessee is a lock.

I honestly think truthfully UGA got humbled in the SEC champ game. They went to work. Even if you are the best team and its obvious you still have to play. Injuries happen. That is football. UGA is the defending champ because they earned it. IF we really want it we are going to have to earn it just the same. There are no easy roads when the playoff starts. You have to go play.

I think we need to stop worrying about the playoffs and just enjoy this season for what it is. Absolutely no one thought we would be sitting here at 9-1 at this point in the season. Just let it play out and enjoy this for what it is! Whether we get into the playoffs or not, this has been one hell of a season!
