Big difference in burning a red shirt in October than it is burning one the last game of the season for a meaningless game.

I'm not sure this game is meaningless. Also when Worleys red shirt was burned it was pure panic mode by CDD at the end of a game we couldn't win. I would want Ferg to start.

It is short sighted. Stupid is a streach. If CBJ felt he really needed the win to build momentum for next year, I'd be ok with it.

I didn't say I was in favor of it. I said I would be ok with it. If he doesn't win the starter spot in the spring he can sit next year.

So OP I thought we were supposed to lose to UK with Dobbs as a starter? I wonder what happened? Oh I am sure you're going to hedge your prediction by saying well it was only UK. Also had North been healthy and Croom not gotten hurt, we would have blown UK out.

So you honestly expected a true freshman, non-early enrollee QB to have success with no experienced receivers and average at best running backs? Name one QB that has come in with that situation and had any success in the SEC. Name one.
Anyone that has played the sport knows that it takes repetition and some time in the weight room for freshman. You're exactly right. Those who never played can't relate to the physical toll on the body. Most freshman hit a wall. Even AJ and Maggitt hit one their freshman year.
Trying to judge Dobbs (or Ferguson if it had been him) is unbelievably premature at this point. I guarantee you'll see a different guy in the spring game and a hell of a competition between Dobbs and Worley this summer.
Fergie has no game experience but yet some claim him to be the savior based off reports from what reporters were able to watch (Peterman). Absurdity at it's best. Dobbs should be light years ahead of Fergie because of his game experience especially being that he had the playbook memorized from day one. All he needs is the gym. That's not to count out Fergie however because he should be bigger, stronger faster as well. My bet is on the experienced QB. Counting out Worley is a mistake. Contrary to what people think Worley doesn't lack in the confidence department and he won't go down without a fight.
But, hey, instead of supporting our players that are going out there and giving their all for Tennessee, you sit behind a computer screen and personally attack them. How exactly do you feel that you are helping the school you say you support by ripping its players?
It's what they do. Some on here have valid questions and good debate. Then you have those who swear they know every aspect of this game. 9 out of 10 on here couldn't handle the mental grind that it takes to be a student athlete and have never experienced it. The toll of 4 qtrs of hitting another human being and trying to mentally stay focused to do your job is why only a select few have the privilege. Madden 2k14 or whatever video game people play does not make people experts. There's more to running a route than running a route. There's more to throwing a slant than throwing a slant. There's more to hitting the gap as a RB than just hitting the gap. Unfortunately fan-atics won't ever understand that. Bama fans are crying mad today because they don't truly understand this sport. A woman was murdered by another woman because she truly didn't understand the irony of this sport. Some Vol fans don't understand the slow growth and development that "has" taken place over the season by this team because of this staff in place. Continuity will be the key to the rise of UT football. Not firing coordinators because fans don't like the play call. 40 + different coaches over 5 years gave us what we have now. Only a fan-atic would want to keep firing coaches. Why? Because they don't understand the sport. They understand emotion. If they're not happy after 3 hours of football the team is a failure. This is where we're at.

There's no way I would burn Rileys redshirt to play Ky. We will get our chance to see him. It will be battled out in the spring
