I would rather be banned from NCAA tourney

Are you sure you're watching UT games?
These kids have come back at the end of most of these losses only to lose on poor execution or bonehead turnovers.
It's a problem of overcoming mental mistakes and learning to finish games, not intensity.

Yes I have seen them all. Martin shows very little passion. Tell me how many times we come out of a timeout in a critical situation and executed?

And I know many of you agreed with MH saying Bruce had to go, and you guys are (at least so far) Wrong. Without bruce, will we be a NCAA tourney team this year? Probably not. Next year? Borderline? Maybe?

The question you need to ask yourself is would we have made the tournament this year with Pearl? Probably not.

I'll ignore the insanely quick judgment on Cuonzo Martin and the idea that all we would've lost is 2 scholarships for two years

That's only true for Jajuan Smith.

Lofton was already a great freshman Buzz's last year and CJ Watson was playing in the NBA regardless of Pearl.

No clue what you are typing...

He went undrafted, despite having his best career season under Pearl. Then, he went to Europe for a year, then joined the NBA D-League and then eventually landed a whopping 10 day contract for the Warriors...

My only thought, is that the players were so inspired by Bruce, that they may have taken a bullet for him. Not so much for Martin, at this point....

Yeah - proving that Bruce had nothing to do with his ability to make the NBA. He was talented. Way more talented than anyone Martin currently has - same can be said about Lofton and J. Smith.

And by the way - most if not all of the players were going to have increased scoring numbers under Pearl going from Buzz ball to uptempo Pearl style.. its only logical player's scoring will go up.

Once again if Martin woulda tried to roll up his sleeves and try to atleast talk to Tobias and Scotty, he would have some talent. The fact that everyone thinks Tobias was 100% gone was a joke. He always said later in the season that if Bruce was gone or let go he would lean more towards turning pro, but he would listen to the new coach if talked too. The fact marring could even nudge a little of Harris' confidence to think he might play for a winner speaks volumes on how Martin pitches himself to potential recruits. And we all hate Scotty and his inconsistencies but senior leadership is so underrated in college athletics.
Martin did talk to Tobias. Tobias actually likes Martin and his coaching style and has came back and worked out with the team a couple times. But the draft was breaking to well for Harris, he would go lower in this draft as this years class has more talent. Tobias made a decision that was good for his future. As far as Hopson goes, it is my understanding that he bugged out as soon as the season was over and he and his handlers never really gave Martin an opportunity to sway him.

We are scoring enough to win games. Its the man to man that is killing us. If we switch to zone for just a couple of minutes to throw off their momentum we win at
least 3 or maybe 4 of the games we lost.

There have still been a couple of games where lack of any offense has cost us just as much as our poor defense.

Uh. Yes we would have. No doubt in my mind that Harris woulda been back for one more year and Scotty woulda came back too. ITs funny how Bruce left this team young and bare but Cuonzo couldn't even bother trying to talk to Tobias or Scotty to come back. Harris has said the only conversation that was made between him and 'Zo was like 5 minutes and no attempt was made to try to keep him here. Do I think Tobias wanted to play for him? No. Do I believe he, along with Scotty, woulda been back for one more year? Hell Yes. Tobias based over half his decision on whether Bruce was gonna be retained or not. To say he was a lock to leave is a joke and the only reason everyone shoots down anyone who argues that is because its easy to say he was leaving for sure since he did. Half of this teams depth issues are on Cuonzo. Its like he didn't even bother trying to get two of our best players to stay. Basically to a lot of people he said "To Hell with them"

Ridiculous and outright false.

Yeah, they sure showed that last year.

Maybe this link will help you WVLT Mobile Web. Notice how Tobias talks about Martin working them hard. Referencing the fact the Tobias attended individual workouts with Martin and his new staff.

I've already tried to tell him that neither of those guys were staying and he continues to live in his fairy tale world where Martin never even talked to either of the two.

I never understand blaming the coach for bad attendance. That's your fault, the fan. If fans really wanted to support to program, they would come no matter what, not just when everything is peachy. It's your fault TBA is empty, not Martin's. You can fix that problem, he can't make you go.

Yeah, I saw that. I figured I would give it one more try and then find the ignore button. The guy sounds like a broken record.

It's not totally the fans fault. I would love to go to more games. But ticket prices, bad economic situation, and being able to sit in my living room comfortably (instead of crammed in, elbow to elbow) makes watching the game on TV much more appealing. Throw in the recent craze of 9:00pm tip-offs and it's no wonder attendance is down.

Would it help if he took off his shirt, threw a chair, cussed the officials and squirted himself with Jiffy Lube?
Keyword : executed.

You could buy $7 uppers to any game except Kentucky. Ticket prices aren't that bad.

There were plenty of people there for games the last 6 years. Not Martin's fault the fans decided not to support the team this year.

If you want to sit at home and watch on TV, that's fine and great, but don't come here talking about down attendance and black curtains.

We were picked to finish at the bottom of the SEC.....I really believe Pearl adapted to what he had on the court and got the most out of each team he could...

I really hope Martin proves to be the answer but he has me really worried at this point.

To answer your question about watching UT basketball, I have watched since Don Devoe's early years and will continue to support the team even if they hire Wade Houston back.

Amen. People love to make excuses. Pearl had his most talented team ever last year and ran that team into the ground. Oh how people love to forget when mentioning Pearl the 30 point drubbing Michigan put on us in the tourney, or C of C beating us by double digits, or his teams always playing terribly in the SEC tournament, or the countless problems with the law, or the countless misses he had in recruiting.

It is people like this (the OP) that bring shame and a blatant ignorance for relevance to this board and to the fan base. I wish these people(all the Dooley and Cuonzo Haters) would just crawl back into their caves and jerk off to pics of Lane Kiffin.
